I πŸ’— PARKRUN

β€’32 Replies

Well, that could be my last parkrun until after my 10k race in 2 weeks 😬 I think I'm going to try two long runs next week... Maybe two 10k runs and then seriously rest up for the race. We shall see.

Parkrun was fantastic today, just the right weather for it. Someone asked me for directions in the car park, she was new to this parkrun. Sounds like she's doing something similar to couch to 5k with a running group. She was on week 6 and running 25 minutes non stop, she couldn't believe how far she could run... It all sounded so familiar. She seemed a bit nervous about Parkrun and the 5k distance, we've all been there.

Anyway I ran a PB and I was walking back and I saw her not far behind, I gave her a big cheer and a clap, she was absolutely flying so I'm sure she'll be happy with that performance.

This is why I love Parkrun and couch to 5k. You just connect with people instantly, we're on the same journey.

Happy running everyone. Happy Parkrun day! 😁

Well done on that PB!

Thank you! Wasn't as hot as last week πŸ₯΅ so I think that helped. πŸ˜„

Well done on your pb ! And for encouraging the newbie (I will be the newbie in August lol, I hope someone is as nice to me).

Good luck, i'm sure you'll love it. Loads of nice people at parkrun πŸ˜€ Plus I don't think you'll get kittens attacking your feet.. maybe ducks though. πŸˆπŸ˜πŸ¦†

I looked at Stephen_UK hilliest parkrun list and scared myself, I think I will ask my parents to move somewhere less hilly before August :D

in reply to backintime

Is it a hard one!? 😬...Is it hilly? Debston does one of the hardest parkruns in the UK! She loves it...apart from the "sodding hills". πŸ˜‚

it doesn't look too easy for a novice outside runner :D it is up nearer the top of the list

debston has all my respect, she is awesome :D

Well done clubberlang! Sounds like the perfect morning for you - a PB is always welcome isn’t it? πŸ’ͺπŸ‘ŠπŸ˜€

in reply to cheekychipmunks

Thanks Cheeky, yes it is nice. I think the cooler weather really helped. Also training for 10k has definitely improved my 5k. I'm enjoying it a lot more now.

Oh, how I am itching to get back to running!! Your posts are a great read. Love that you helped out the newbie Parkrunner. Hopefully that’ll be me before too long - am aiming to try a tentative β€œjogette” this week and see if my foot holds up. Good luck with the 10k race training. You’re doing fab!!

in reply to

Awww thanks Delly, I'm glad you like them. Good luck with your jogette, It must be so frustrating for you, but you'll be back out there soon and we'll be here to celebrate and cheer you on. x

Yay, so proud of you, my virtual running buddy - you're doing brilliantly. I was reading a running book I seem to have bought myself and it talks about "tapering" your runs before a race so you can perform your best in the actual race. Sounds like what you're planning on doing! Well done for your new pb at Parkrun - great stuff!

in reply to Debston

Thanks Debs! Yeah that's it, tapering... makes sense really, you just don't want to be knackered when you do your run, or have any niggling injuries. BUT you don't want to go in there rusty either, so it's a fine line. I think I'm going to find it quite hard to do, I don't like my rest days anymore πŸ˜’

Also... if you go to Hastings I can be your real running buddy! Yay! πŸ˜†HASTINGS! 😁

Yes it does make good sense, giving yourself the best possible chance. And I will have a think about Hastings, it does sound like a brilliant one to do, if you like running ridiculously long distances... πŸ˜‚

Ooo that sounds such a good run. Great news on PB and very exciting that race day is coming soon. And I am sure your fabulous and unexpected support to that runner will stay with them.

in reply to Wimborne

Must admit I'm really looking forward to this race, I've always wanted to run in London. I thought I had plenty of time but it's flown by.

How are you Wimborne? Hope there's been some more progress. I can't wait to see a post telling us that you're out there running again.

Ooo London too how fab is that. Insanely jealous. Can’t wait to read all about it. And I am beyond excited. I have been walking on treadmill and doing bike etc but I did a wobbly type of bouncy jog on the treadmill this week which wasn’t too bad at all pain wise so am off out tonight to the park to see what I can do ....yay!!!!

in reply to Wimborne

Yay! That's great news! Good luck. πŸ’—
