At what point does it become “ok” to run on consecutive days? I started C25K in December last year and have always followed the advice of leaving at least a day in between runs. I’m now doing two 5K runs a week and one long run of anywhere between 8 - 13k working up to a HM. Off on my holidays on Friday and I just wanted to sneak in a little extra run in before I go.
Rest day: At what point does it become “ok” to... - Bridge to 10K
Rest day
Official advice I think says 12 months of regular running but sometimes life gets in the way!! I have run in consecutive days but I would suggest not if the first one is your long run. Just make sure you respect the rest day after your long one.
Yeah I agree. I usually run twice during the week, 5-6k and Parkrun on Saturday plus 1 long 10-13k run on Sundays.
Once you have been running regularly for a year it should be ok. Although I’d still keep 3 rest days in the 7 day week.

Only one way to find out and that's to try it and see. Like the programme, start off gently with a slow short run and see how you feel the next day. Your body will soon tell you if it's not happy.
The important thing is to keep an eye on your total weekly mileage and make sure you don't go over the recommended 10% increase. An extra rest day after your long run might be beneficial.
Hi . Ive done it a few times, but just with smallish runs. I would say you would be OK, but Im no expert, see how you feel
enjoy your holiday
Right, a little baby run this evening it is then. I promise to take it easy.
Have a great Holiday. I ran every second day when I was recently away on my holiday. Early morning runs whilst away are great.
As above with the year thing... and even then removing a rest day should be one at a time with care taken to not increase weekly mileage when you do it.
Thanks for all the advice..... totally ignored all of it and ran a 10k as I really don’t think I’ll be doing too much running on holiday. Got away with it, but promise not to do it again.
