We’re starting to head back north towards the soggy swamp that used to be England, but have stopped off for a couple of nights in Royan on the west coast of France on the way. Took Ben for a walk when we arrived yesterday and I thought this would make a good run. I left OH drinking his tea, put on my running gear and set off towards the harbour alongside sandy beaches and rocky cliffs. 3.5k each way at a steady pace, stopping for a couple of photos. Lovely 😊

Lovely post. Glad Royan is back in shape after the battering it got (last week I think). We start the long drive back July 1st but I’m leaving my second best running shoes here so there’ll be a break in the normal routine until Parkrun 7th July.
Where are you travelling from HeavyFoot ? I had an email from parkrun saying that they miss me, so I’ll be back next week, hopefully being a tourist with TheOldFellow in Keswick!
Depending on where in England you are heading it’s brightened up a bit -2 lovely sunny days so far in Devon and today looks set for another one. Not too hot but warm enough to walk about without a cardigan and lovely for running
Oh that does look lovely Sandie. Have you been swimming there too? Have a great drive home. I think Lincolnshire suffered flooding while you were away so you timed your trip well.💦💦💦💦💦
Unfortunately no dogs allowed on the beach 1/4-30/9 so we could only admire from the prom 😥I’m not sure how warm the Atlantic will be yet anyway. Yes we heard that Lincs has been hit hard and next week isn’t looking good either. Still, at least the neighbours won't have needed to water the garden 😂
Agree with you about the Atlantic; the water is freezing here on Scilly. The intrepid/ crazy Mrs Beachcomber went in for a dip the other day, but not for very long. You really need a wet suit at this time of year, and even then it feels horrible as the cold water seeps inside! On the other hand the weather has been lovely. There is a bit of chill in the wind, but it is easy to find hot sheltered spots. Perfect conditions for running and long walks. Hope you don't find too much mud when you get home; awful for people ☔️
There were actually a couple of people having a dip when I was out 🥶 One of the things we noticed on our walk though was that, because the beaches face in different directions, some are sheltered and others are windy, so you can choose how warm you want to be!
