Last August (I think) I bought my first pair of gait checked running shoes.
Because of my wide feet I ended up with a pair of New Balance 860 v8.
After around 700k in them it was off back to the same shop with a 20% discount in hand to buy a new pair of runners.
With a bit of chat I was left realising how much I still needed to learn. I was asked how I had faired with the shoes. I explained my initial problems with transitioning to them and then that until recently all had been ok but I had picked up a blister after some longer runs.
I was told that it was probably because the shoes needed to be replaced - she then took my old shoes in her hands and bent them in half.
She brought out a new pair of exactly the same shoe (v9) and showed me the bend achievable in them!!
So it would seem that the blister was because the support that the shoes should be able to give was not possible and my for was rolling inwards. Doh!! I just hope that it does not take me 2 months to transition to this new pair now!
What amazed me most was how quickly I managed to sort out a pair of shoes - normal shoes it can take me hours! I was in and out within 15 minutes!!
Looking forward to trying them out.
