Didn’t make it to Parkrun today. I was held up by tech problems, as I bought an audio book to listen to, but it wasn’t showing up. I so wanted to listen to it while I run. But this isn’t a sad story of woe! I learned a lot on my alternative running adventure. 🤓
So, after feeling increased frustration at the technical issues 😖, I set out thinking I’ll just do Parkrun the old school way and listen to my music. But I didn’t really let it go! 🤣 I decided to stop on route and get coffee at McD’s, while I took control of the frustrator within, with the “all or nothing” chatter and sorted it out. I can.... after all.....run anywhere 😉!! How cool is that? 👌🏽🤩
I sorted out my audiobook and then went to beautiful Coate Water Park to run instead. No Parkrun drama’s. I was firmly in the zone of running for fun and listening to my body. A body that was sort of protesting to that moving thing called running 😂, but one that I was not letting off the hook today 🤨 and I ended up run/walking for almost 6k in 43 minutes and feeling great for adjusting what I did, to get the job done!! I actually came out with a better average speed than some of my “all run”, runs! There was no strain in my gain today!! My very own self influenced intervals worked.
Lesson learned? I could go out every day and at least walk for 30 minutes! Chances are they’ll be lots of running occurring! Maybe I’ll try it? 🤩🤩
Happy running Runners!! ❤️

I still can't quite get my head around the fact that I run/walk faster than just continuous running - it doesn't feel like I'm running any faster than normal, but I obviously am.
And nothing wrong with walking bits - it gives you time to enjoy your surroundings (and Coate Water certainly looks beautiful in your photo)! Getting out there is the main thing 🏃♀️
Thank you Tartancat!! It was just one of those moments of realisation about the true benefits of doing this the best way for yourself and it works!! 😉❤️
Yes, I really enjoyed doing the run that way!! I only stopped when I felt the need and I just naturally got longer and longer runs in between! Pretty cool! 🤓❤️
It’s interesting with the run/walk combo - it’s called “jeffing” by those in the know! I can “run” run 5k in 35/36 mins comfortably but if I “Jeff” then I can do it in 33/34 - mad isn’t it!
Well done on overcoming the technical gremlins - fabulous as ever! 💪🏃♀️
Yay Fab! I’ve been to Coate Water Park, as there used to be a regatta there eons ago, and Mr Cheeky raced there! Gorge isn’t it? 😍
Well done for grasping the gremlins by the you-know-whats and telling them what for. You’re doing that more and more nowadays, so you’re definitely on the ups! 👍👊😀💪
I’m running tomorrow. Today I volunteered at PR which was fun as ever. People were finishing looking particularly 🥵 🥵 🥵! Happy running this week. 😀😀
Well done Fabz 👊🤗 Run/walking is what I've been doing as well, and there ain't nothing wrong with that my lovely!! We're out there, doing this 🦋❤️ Well done you X
Oh thanks Flar!! 🤗 I agree. I only planned to do 30 minutes, but ended up doing nearly 43 minutes and nearly 6k, so it was certainly better than I had planned for!! We’re still out there, don’t care! 😁😁🤩🦋 ❤️
Well done for your positive mindset. We can put ourselves under so much pressure in life and although it's good to have goals it's also good to take a step back sometimes. I did 5k around where I live - woods, village, paths, housing estate with a bit of jeffing too whilst my husband did parkrun and soon volunteered. I'm now staying at my brother's who is a Jeff and we had a good giggle over jeffing last night! 😆
Sorry for the late reply. I do like Jeffing!! Good for you Slinky! 😁 I think I’m also going to try to do more walking as a warm up though, as it’s probably needed to deal with the toxic 10 a bit better! 😂❤️
