It looks like the meteorologists called it this time. Woke up to a blizzard. Highways are closed to the West of town due to accidents. Cupboards are bare so I can’t just hunker down, like planned. It’ll be a slow trip through town to the grocery store. I’m really glad I ran on Friday and was just going to do an easy run or walk today. It can wait until Spring comes back later this week. I’m used to winter running but I .... am.... done... with... winter!!! Hard to believe I was running in shorts just a few days ago and was smiling at the lovely little leaf buds coming out on the trees and how green the grass was becoming. C’est la vie. This too shall pass.
I hope everyone else has nicer weather for running. I’ll bask in the lovely pictures and run reports you share until I can feel the sun on my face again.

Those darn little critters are probably giggling deep in their holes, saying "Fooled ya!". But this won't stay, it is hopefully just a little blip. It looks like we're back above zero within a couple days and are approaching temperatures in the teens by the end of the week 🤞. It will just make for a day or two of ugly road conditions.
It is much nicer at home, with the protection from the wind. When I got out of my car at the grocery store, the wind was blowing the snow completely sideways 😩. But I wasn't the only fool restocking their cupboards today. I was surprised how many people were out. Driving was a challenge with the icy conditions, snowy ruts and poor visibility so I'm glad to be home and rewarded myself with some warmed brownies and ice cream 😊.
Oh no Sask! Hope it meets away soon. I postponed yesterday's run as it was very windy here and I hate running in the wind. Did it today as the wind had dropped. W2r2 of c25k on my reset, restart, building back up schedule. My knee hardly hurt at all today so I am quietly optimistic 😄
I hear you about the wind! It can take some of the joy out of the run, that's for sure. I'm glad to hear the rebuild back is coming along nicely! Slow, steady, and pain-free!
Lordy, the weather sure is crazy where you are, Sask! Thank goodness you had that fab run on Friday, phew! Stay safe and warm, my dear. Fingers crossed for a proper full on spring soon. x
I definitely live in the land of extremes. Oh wait, no that's not right. Our license plates say "Saskatchewan - the land of the living skies" but I think mine is more accurate for the part of the province I live in (maybe a bit less enticing though 😂).
My sister used to live in Toronto, I visited her during the coldest winter I have ever experienced. It was unbelievably cold... I thought the north of England was cold in winter, you guys are hardcore... Absolutely loved it though, beautiful place and very friendly people.
Wow that looks bad. Especially when spring you thought had sprung. At least you got supplies in and can now hunker down. My brother lives in Saskatoon. I’m sure he is in a similar rut.
Surprisingly it was just the South that got hit in Saskatchewan. My father-in-law lives by Saskatoon and they didn't get any when we spoke to him yesterday. Instead they're dealing with grass fires.
Every time We come to Canada we have a weather or natural event! First year it was an earthquake, second time a specific tornado warning for the town we were staying in, last year a huge storm took out the power for 24 hours! The amazing thing is how “can do” people are...generators appear , people share stuff etc etc. Hope this is a temporary jet stream dip and normal running will soon be restored!
Oh we love it anyway; all just interesting experiences. I forgot about being stuck in a plane for a couple of hours around midnight on the Pearson International apron because of lightening. I think we are just Jonahs! Wonderful country😊
Me, too! The sun will come out and the snow starts to melt then the next time I look outside it is snowing again. At least this snow isn't sticking around. The grass where the snow has melted is very vibrant green right now though!
Reminds me of when I took a group to Ireland and it rained, i had to explain that something had to make it green and deserve it’s name of the Emerald Isle...
