Its a year on Easter Monday since I graduated c25k and the running bug I caught then is still as strong as ever. I bore my non running family silly, although OH cycles so we sit in companionable silence loading up our separate stats and then share our latest achievements, if any. This forum is heaven, for the support, encouragement, advice and virtual friendship shared on here.
I have learned that negative splits aren’t painful and are actually a good thing! I have acquired a love for bright Lycra, (lots of it) drool in sports shop windows at running shoes, have a winter and summer running drawer(s) wireless bluetooth earphones, a new flipbelt, and yesterday my new Garmin arrived! weirdly they are all in the same turquoise colour. I didn’t have a small child available to help me set it up, so headed off to parkrun this morning with said new watch, (hoping for the best) and my Mr Men Little Miss leggings also turquoise. Bit of a theme here but totally unplanned coordination. This is only my 11th parkrun since last June (our parkruns start at 8.00 am so the duvet normally wins, but over the winter I’ll make more of an effort to go.
Lots of giant bunnies at parkrun today, an egg and spoon race and Easter Egg Hunt. Brilliant volunteers, thank you. I managed to record 4.41 kilometres of my run 🤷🏼♀️ and when the official results came in later it was a new PB too. Thats 13 minutes off my first parkrun, which was run in minus 1.5 degrees, although my face looked like I’d just run in 40 degrees! I doubt I’ll ever be able to do a sub 30min 5k, but I don’t intend to try I love being a snail! I’m so much fitter and not as moody and have toned up and lost about 7 kilos. Maybe one day I’ll enter a race, but they are mostly too far away for me to travel with the dogs, so in the meantime I’ll carry on doing virtual races. My first bling and top never arrived, so the lovely race organisers sent out another package ha! ha! guess what the tops turquoise? Did a charity race last month with a lovely medal and might look at doing some more soon.
Happy Easter everyone and happy running 🙂 🐣🐥

What a lovely post, Lexi! And congrats on your one year of running, and your Parkrun PB! So much to celebrate! 👏👏👏
I identify with so much you say here. And love a negative split, myself. 😊 Once you get the hang of it, it makes a run so much easier I reckon! My partner doesn’t do anything sporty, but listens patiently (but can sense his boredom!) when I harp on about running. I try not to do it too much, though. I know I have you lovely folks to chat about it with, and for that I am so thankful.
Thank you Sadie, isn’t this place great? I have a smile on my face still from parkrun this morning If it wasn’t for HU and wonderful people like yourself, sharing, advising and taking the time to reply I might not still be running. (I think I lurked on here for a year) There might be 12,000 miles separation and 11 hours time difference, but I love this running family. ❤️ Xx
Duh! Do you know it had never occurred to me to *wear* them even though that is clearly what they are for! Thank you! I think I need to have a bit of a clank.
Happy runniversary! I know what you mean about boring people... I never shut up about running through the whole of C25k. I've calmed down a lot now but my OH (who is a swimmer) still thinks I've gone mad!
Happy Runniversary Lexi whoop whoop 🎈🍾🎉💪 congratulations and well done for keeping going.
You need to join my old running club because their club colour was turquoise! It's one of the reasons I joined as I have lots of that colour too and love it 🙂 So shallow 😏
Thanks IP. Its just a lovely colour and strangely satisfying seeing items folded neatly in my drawer (folded and neat not big on my must do) goodness! whats come over me. Might gladden Sadie-runs heart. ❤️
Happy Easter Lexi. I read your post and then Damien’s whilst I was lying in bed. Not feeling runny at all. But I dragged my bum out of bed and just back from a rather hot sweaty 5k. Love your doggie photo and what a fabulous year of runny you. Happy Runniversary Lexi. Keep that Lycra shopping going. And gorgeous blue too. Reminds me of the sea.
Amazing Wimborne, you didn’t feel like it but you did it, got up and ran! You’re right can’t have too much Lycra? my OH will disagree 😅 Dog is Harry, huge grin on his face as he was off the lead and ran his little butt off. Now just to run mine off too. 😀
And to you too Jell. Its a beautiful colour, really starting to appreciate it now that I have so much of it. It was a lovely run but gutted on missing out on finding chocolate at parkrun this morning, a woman running in front of me, kept diving off the track and running back on , triumphantly holding up choccie easter eggs, how she spotted them is a mystery. I had to overtake her in the end, it was all too much 😢 probably why I got a PB 🙂
Thanks Deals I got the 235, still wearing it this morning, just had a look at my sleep statistics, as I’m an insomniac, but don’t think its overly accurate, so shan’t bother with it again, but its very comfy and I’m loving all the other bits and bobs.. Looking forward to getting some stats on it, not today though its been pouring all night and raining still. It’s goingto be a bonus not to have to pull out my phone to stop Strava. 😀
Aw, well done lexi6 , you are def addicted to this running lark, choosing running clobber over day to day clothes and excitement overload at a garmin certainly sounds like an addiction....and sounds like me too!! How fab that something like running can just do it for us??? Your park run sounds like fun, the volunteers there are worth their weight in gold...
Its funny you have a coincidental turquoise thing going on...I have a purple one!!! Happy Easter my friend x
Hiya Mummycav, hope you are well? Who knew I’d want to buy bright Lycra, know what wireless bluetooth was and want a Garmin, never mind know what a Garmin is!! I love this running and this forum. Feel a little embarrassed with my competitiveness that at parkrun on Saturday I caught up to a lady running with her husband, she’s done well over 50 parkruns, had a little chat to them both (me? multi tasked running and talking at the same time!) and I passed them and heard husband say “chase her”, not proud but I kicked in and sprinted the last 200 metres and beat her by 7 seconds. Thats a fib - very proud 😂 (got 15 years on her) and purple rocks! Happy Easter back at ya and enjoy that sunshine. X
