“Maintenance runs” / every day running

Hello fellow runners :) I hope you are all well and OK. . . I haven’t posted here for a month or so due life being crazy busy. During this time it would have been very easy to temporary put the running on hold. However I have still managed to fit in three short around the block type 3k runs per week, what I call “maintenance runs”. I call them that because I see them as just maintaining some sort fitness but not actually setting any personal bests or running any long distances. About a week ago life got a little more back to normal and I decided to return to some normal running. Inspired by FlickM3’s superb achievement of running every day for a month I decided to start off with a week of everyday running. It went really well and I’m now wondering about doing this regularly, maybe one week a month?, does anybody else do anything like this?

Hi, I don't, but am also interested in the answer to this question as I was thinking about it only yesterday.

Now the weather is better and there are more daylight running hours, I could find the time in some weeks but don't know what the downsides might be.

I’d just like to point out here that orangeguy has been running well over a year and his body is now used to running.

It is recommended that you continue to have at least one rest day between runs for the first year to avoid injury.

We don’t want you on the IC 😉

Thanks Dexy5 - I'm only four months in, so will shelve that idea for now! My current routine always has a rest day between, one if not two.

👍

I can’t say a ever get the urge to run 2 days on the trot 😂

This is completely true, and I've actually been running for over five years. Just to clarify, I'm considering doing only one "every day week" in four weeks and then running shorter distances for that week.
