Leg pain - long post!!

My running has been hit and miss for a long while doing the odd few k here and there but finally getting back into it building up regular runs, I've been doing a steady (slow) flat 3-4k a few times a week and have been ok but today I had a strange sensation down the outside of my right leg during the last k, it's felt ok since but the other day at my desk the same leg felt a bit tingly and sore round my bum and thigh. Am I right in thinking sciatica? Tia x

It is possible, especially given the sore bum muscles. The sciatic nerve passes by (and in some people through) the piriformis muscle in the buttock which can cause sore bum, back of thigh, and low back pain. I've been doing these exercises curiousmindmagazine.com/hel... and it has helped me but I've got a Physio appointment today to get it assessed properly. If your pain persists despite rest and stretching, you may want to get it checked out. The outside of the thigh pain may also be due to a tight IT band which is also common amongst runners. It can lead to knee pain if left unchecked.

Can't improve on sask's answer, try the exercises and see if they help, and see someone if they don't. There's a stretch for the ITB too, stand feet together, cross right foot over left, raise right arm over head, hold the stretch for maybe 10 seconds. Repeat with left side. I do this one as part of my after run stretches. Hope that sorts it for you, especially as you've managed to get back out running regularly 😊
