The day after a sickness bug and still getting over last week's cold, today's run was never about speed or breaking any records, it was just a run for me, a run for fun. Just a run, run.
It was great to get out in my capris and a vest top - imagine that in February!!! The run felt good, I was enjoying it so inspired by some of you on here I extended it a little and decided to run up the steepest hill there is in St Ives. Now this is not a big hill by any stretch of the imagination - the segment on Strava tells me it is 0.3km at 2.8%, but I gave it my all and was not going to be defeated and I ran up it. It felt good to reach the top then a short gentle jog home.
I was amazed when I got home on looking at my Strava stats. It said I have the course record for running up that hill!!! How can that be? little, old, sloth like me!!!
Theres proper runners that have run that segment - but I'm the fastest???? Is Strava just trying to boost my confidence or is it known for making errors like this?

Strava once said I ran to the canal and jumped in (the signal failed at the canal so the line stopped). It was lying of course, I didn't get wet. I think Strava can get it wrong. Runkeeper on the other hand is NEVER wrong. It said it took me 4 seconds to do a km last week. Wow, I've improved!
I think you may have noticed if you took a dip in the canal!
For me other segments of my run have said I am 85th out of about 150 runners who have run that segment. That sounds reasonably realistic. But the fastest ever???? By a whole 10 seconds, I question the accuracy of this. But my name is up there top of the list, the best out of 340 people!!! Ha!
