Thanks - a repeat of a post I’ve just put on Strava

Whilst I was running today my mind was wandering and I realised how lucky I am to be fit enough to run; how great it is to have decided to try Couch to 5k, to have stuck with it when it got hard and to go beyond; how fantastic that this old body can regain its shape and fitness levels inside a year; how supportive every runny person I’ve encountered has been, both online and in real life; how good some of my VRBs are and how important they’ve become in my life; and how amazing it is to be able to run so far (for me) so fast (also, for me).

Thanks all of you for being part of that.

Big love back at you Jay. I remember you specifically at the beginning of my C25K journey, and how helpful and encouraging you were. 😀

This forum is truly special. We are all amazing runners, we all have highs and lows and we’re all here for each other. VRBs for ever! 👍🏃‍♀️🏃👊

Thanks for the lovely post! ❤️

I remember it really clearly too. I was paying back what had been freely given to me at the start x

Plenty to be grateful for Jay 🤗 Thank you for reminding us 🦋 I never used to feel comfortable (as you know!) saying the "P word" but now I can actually screeeeeam it that "I'm PROUD of us all!!!" 🦋❤️ Now stop it. I'm getting emoshe 🙄🤦‍♀️😘

Totally agree jay , just got back from a 5k. My usual . Feel great, even when having a post stretch, some young lads said lunge ladies to me and sis. I thought yes us over 50,s can do it.

Ditto everything you said. The C25k course is brilliant, it gives us a whole new life, that I, for one, never imagined possible. Freedom, fitness, a feeling of being stronger in body and mind...a great sense of well being, and a great sense of camaraderie here in this forum.

Thank you everyone, and happy running 🙂🌻

Avocado on toast with lemon juice drizzled over 😋

Or cut the lemon juice and use balsamic glaze instead and a few mixed seeds 👌😉

I'm trying to reduce/remove honey from my diet but its proving difficult to find substitutes...👎

BaddieThePirate profile image
BaddieThePirateGraduate10 in reply to GoGo_JoJo

What about maple syrup? Comes in a lovely shaped bottle at a good price in Aldi. I use that in recipes when I have vegan friends over to dinner.

GoGo_JoJo profile image
GoGo_JoJoGraduate10 in reply to BaddieThePirate

I use maple syrup for some things for sure. Did a gorgeous cinnamon and maple syrup sweet potato mash the other week 👌

Breakfast I try not to break out the sweet stuff. I've heard aldi or lidl do a prune syrup but not found it yet...

BaddieThePirate profile image
BaddieThePirateGraduate10 in reply to GoGo_JoJo

I don't use a great deal of added sweetness any more, but I'm a chocoholic so most of my sugar intake is via chocolate 😋

Ooh toast with runny honey and banana - a great post run meal 😋

BaddieThePirate profile image
BaddieThePirateGraduate10 in reply to Dexy5

Try putting a banana, an avocado, a little milk, some honey, a spot of vanilla essence and cocoa powder in a food processor and whizzing it up to pudding consistency for a healthy chocolate pudding. It's my current favourite 😋

Cheers 🥂👍😁

Great post with which I agree. I went for a run at new year with 2 of our sons (now young adults)

Finished 5k and felt great one of our boys then said " you couldn't have done that a year ago dad!" Priceless.

Think your post says what a lot of us feel. When I'm running I sometimes thank my lucky stars that I'm able to do it and have actually got fit for the first time in many years. Wish I'd done it sooner, but am sure it will stand me in good stead for the future. Thank you for reminding us all how good the programme and this forum are. 👍👏👏😀

We are very truly blessed Jay66UK. I thank my lucky stars every day that I am now well again, this is true when they say your health is your wealth. Running is part of that wellbeing. So well done to you for sticking at it and coming through to see great results for yourself. This forum is worth its weight in gold for all of us. The support you get from others runners is phenomenal. Good luck in all you do, happy running.

Agreed and then some. As a 58 year old ex heavy smoker I would never have believed I can run. It is largely down to the lovely folk on here encouraging me on.

Well done to all of us.

Lovely post jay66.

How can I add to all the other responses other than agree wholeheartedly? I did most of c25k on my own (with UpTheStanley as my RB) but it was the runny people on the forum who got me running beyond. What a lovely lot! Well done Jay66UK, so much achieved in a year. 🏃‍♂️ ❄️ 🍁☀️ 💦🚶‍♂️

Great post Jay, I feel the same. We seem to have found running at the same point in our lives. I am a few months younger than you and started c25k in June, graduating in September. I wish I had found it sooner in my life!

Could say exactly the same thing! Ran my 3rd Half Marathon this morning and started with Couch to 5k a couple of years ago. Love running, how it makes me feel and the objectives that are not work related! :)

Every word, Jay, every word. (But now I fancy toast and runny 🍯)

Good grief Jay, that’s such a nice thing to say, and so very true. I want to thank you personally for the encouragement you’ve been to me, with my ups and downs. You’re a great person and a great runner too. Thanks mate!
