Whilst I was running today my mind was wandering and I realised how lucky I am to be fit enough to run; how great it is to have decided to try Couch to 5k, to have stuck with it when it got hard and to go beyond; how fantastic that this old body can regain its shape and fitness levels inside a year; how supportive every runny person I’ve encountered has been, both online and in real life; how good some of my VRBs are and how important they’ve become in my life; and how amazing it is to be able to run so far (for me) so fast (also, for me).
Thanks all of you for being part of that.

Plenty to be grateful for Jay 🤗 Thank you for reminding us 🦋 I never used to feel comfortable (as you know!) saying the "P word" but now I can actually screeeeeam it that "I'm PROUD of us all!!!" 🦋❤️ Now stop it. I'm getting emoshe 🙄🤦♀️😘
Totally agree jay , just got back from a 5k. My usual . Feel great, even when having a post stretch, some young lads said lunge ladies to me and sis. I thought yes us over 50,s can do it.
Love this forum , some very funny and encouraging lovely people on here.
Ditto everything you said. The C25k course is brilliant, it gives us a whole new life, that I, for one, never imagined possible. Freedom, fitness, a feeling of being stronger in body and mind...a great sense of well being, and a great sense of camaraderie here in this forum.
Try putting a banana, an avocado, a little milk, some honey, a spot of vanilla essence and cocoa powder in a food processor and whizzing it up to pudding consistency for a healthy chocolate pudding. It's my current favourite 😋
It is just great isn't it? It's just a shame it took us so long to find it but find it we did and I think for most of us it will change the years to come, infinitely for the better.
Think your post says what a lot of us feel. When I'm running I sometimes thank my lucky stars that I'm able to do it and have actually got fit for the first time in many years. Wish I'd done it sooner, but am sure it will stand me in good stead for the future. Thank you for reminding us all how good the programme and this forum are. 👍👏👏😀
We are very truly blessed Jay66UK. I thank my lucky stars every day that I am now well again, this is true when they say your health is your wealth. Running is part of that wellbeing. So well done to you for sticking at it and coming through to see great results for yourself. This forum is worth its weight in gold for all of us. The support you get from others runners is phenomenal. Good luck in all you do, happy running.
Agreed and then some. As a 58 year old ex heavy smoker I would never have believed I can run. It is largely down to the lovely folk on here encouraging me on.
How can I add to all the other responses other than agree wholeheartedly? I did most of c25k on my own (with UpTheStanley as my RB) but it was the runny people on the forum who got me running beyond. What a lovely lot! Well done Jay66UK, so much achieved in a year. 🏃♂️ ❄️ 🍁☀️ 💦🚶♂️
Great post Jay, I feel the same. We seem to have found running at the same point in our lives. I am a few months younger than you and started c25k in June, graduating in September. I wish I had found it sooner in my life!
As the replies suggest, this is a sentiment shared by so many on here. This runny community is fabulous and I regularly thank my lucky stars to have found c25k and this amazing place. So well done Jay!
Could say exactly the same thing! Ran my 3rd Half Marathon this morning and started with Couch to 5k a couple of years ago. Love running, how it makes me feel and the objectives that are not work related!
Every word, Jay, every word. (But now I fancy toast and runny 🍯)
Good grief Jay, that’s such a nice thing to say, and so very true. I want to thank you personally for the encouragement you’ve been to me, with my ups and downs. You’re a great person and a great runner too. Thanks mate!
Just catching up.... always one that’s a bit slow. What a fabulous post Jay. It’s just heartwarming. Who knew what was waiting for us when we started C25K.... and look where we are now.... this forum is truly amazing 😊😀
