Question for the collective

I've recently been enjoying a full (if slow) 5k regularly after a spell on the IC and am now pushing distance, but gently. I'm off for a speed-saunter on the morrow, should I up it to 5.5 or 6k?

Why not go for the 5.5k, then if you feel good whilst running, keep going and get the 6k 😁

I agree with Shakywakey, aim for 5.5k and you might feel good enough to continue. Are you thinking intervals or picking up the pace for the whole run? Whatever you’re planning, enjoy your run Jundal! 🏃🏃🏃👍

I'm thinking a gentle pace for the entire thing, it's a pretty hilly route, nothing too steep, but very little flat. I'll be aiming initially for 8 mins per k, that leaves me the option of speeding up, my ideal pace is usually 7.5 mins per k, but I don't want to push hard on the hills.

That sounds good Jundal. I’ve found hills have helped me no end. It still feels hard sometimes, but it’s a new level of hard, so often I’ll check my time/distance and be pleasantly surprised. Good luck! It’s a beautiful day here today, hopefully the same where you are. 👍☀️🏃

Absolutely glorious, it's the first day for a while I've really wanted to go out in it!

If it’s a speed saunter, I’d stick with a 5k, if you are planning on slowing the pace then upping the distance would be more manageable. Enjoy the run 😎

Absolutely awful run. Freezing cold, windy, hilly, and began jeffing at 1k. Wasn't moving particularly quick, but it was a grind through the entire run, but I managed to get negative splits apart from the first to second kilometre! Bit of a wierd one, really. Managed 5.3k before quitting and walking home. But still, it was a 'run' I suppose.
