Yesterday I was supposed to do the 8K run of Week 4, but the gremlins took charge and convinced me that the weather was too bad for a run. So I gave in. (Unlike those made of stronger stuff, like Mummycav!).
No excuses today - a lovely cold crisp sunny morning, so off I went. Flagged a bit in the middle, as usual, but finished quite strongly and felt great to have beaten those gremlins!!
Looking forward to Week 5 (I think). Happy running to everyone. ππ

Thank you so much! No gremlins in sight today. Can't quite believe I ran 8K - really glad I decided to do the 10K challenge now. Hoping that the snow that's forecast doesn't materialise. π
Thank you! Yeah - I didn't let those gremlins hang around too long! So glad I went out today and feels fantastic that I got to 8K! Hope your running is going well. ππ
I like knowing where I am as I found I wasn't ready to go it alone! Stamina is building all the time and have set myself a mini goal within the plan to get a 30min 5k by the end.Still shy of planks though!
I also aspire to a 30 min 5K but unfortunately I still have to achieve a 35 min 5K! But am very close to it, so hopefully I can whittle a few seconds off my time over the next few weeks. The 10K plan is definitely helping, as suddenly the 4K and 5K runs seem like "short" runs, and I'm encouraged to push myself a bit more. Whereas I've been meandering around since graduating C25K doing runs of 2-5K but without any purpose. Good luck with your 30min target! πͺπ€π
well done!! once you show the gremlins whose the boss a few times... they start to return a bit less. Although there's sometimes a pesky one who keeps fighting (hes with me at the moment! )
Hopefully I've banished them for a while. Sorry to hear that one is bothering you - hope you manage to ignore him and that your running goes well. π€π€π
Well done JoP61, you may have flagged in the middle but you kept going . The first 8k is tough so we get to do it again next week. πββοΈππ
Thanks so much! I always seem to feel a bit heavy legged in the middle section of a run, but towards the end I was running on automatic, if you know what I mean?? Have been listening to audiobooks and that works a treat in terms of distracting me from worrying about the distance travelled. Thought next week would be a 9K so it's quite nice to see that I just (just!) have to repeat this week's runs. Hope your runnning is going well - sounds like you're going great guns at parkrun and elsewhere. I aspire to achieving your pace! πππ
Thank you, my first parkrun was post graduation in May, and I have been chipping away bit by bit at my time over 29 parkruns now. But I really needed an extra rest day after that PB. I didnβt take it because of forecast snow tomorrow. I went a had a few niggles in knees and ankles at the end of my run so I ended up waking and running my last 2k. When I looked at my stats I was a bit faster than I like to be on a long run so that probably didnβt help. Youβve just got to adapt to each run so I will aim to run it all next time. I was on desert island discs today, but it didnβt last to the end of the run.
Wow 29 parkruns! I'm nervous about that as I'm a bit slow and I think I would be discouraged. Also not great in crowds of people. Anyway, my problem, not yours! Hope your niggles have settled down. After my 8K today I felt it in my groin - not had that before. Is fine now but have done plenty of stretches and am having 2 days' rest before the next run. Might be more than 2 days if the snow comes! Happy running πππββοΈ
Thanks so much! I did get those pesky varmints. And ran 8K along the way. Which feels amazing - I didn't think I could get much beyond 5K and yet here I am! Thanks in no small measure to all the support on this forum. Hpoe your running is going well. πππββοΈ
Yes I felt the same when I first completed c25k. My running's going pretty well thanks JoP61 - I did 10k on Saturday which was hard going, partly because it was later in the day (I'm definitely an early morning runner by choice), but today's 5k was much better, if rather chilly!
