Wished I could have run the route - but couldnβt as I wasnβt in my running gear and, in any case, I donβt have trail shoes. πββοΈ
Got back in the car. π
Bought some trail shoes. π
Now I canβt wait for them to arrive and try those babies out. πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ

Thanks Sadie, they are smart arenβt they? I know they wonβt stay that way for long! I like Asics so I couldnβt resist when I saw they had my size. ππ
As someone who umms and ahhhs over every purchase I envy you just ordering these! They look fantastic. Hopefully they will arrive soon and you will out running those previous walks!
Ha, well Iβm the total opposite! When I get a bee in my bonnet I usually simply act on it! The bee has been buzzing for a while now, but I was trying to hold out until my gait analysis the week after next. I was going to ask their advice about trail shoes too - but having read that theyβre all basically neutral, I thought βstuff it, Iβm buying them nowβ! Quick scroll through Amazon, Bobβs my uncle, sorted! π π
Ha ha, yes we are total opposites! I am even thinking/planning about waiting til my birthday in June to get gait analysis done for my next pair of shoes!
Good to know about trail shoes. I am getting a bit bored with pounding the pavements.
I walk on a pretty common with my dog and I used to think people would be bonkers trying to run it. Itβs very undulating. Now I canβt wait to see how I get on! πββοΈπββοΈ
I didnβt realise trail shoes were neutral until recently. Always learning arenβt we? πππββοΈ
We certainly are! Watch out for wee holes and hillocks on your run, I have done a few "graceful" wobbles when I run across our local fields. Didn't like the first time I ran around fields, but it grew on me.Enjoy your run!
Yes I will be very mindful of the footing. I wouldnβt forgive myself if I got over zealous and turned an ankle or something. Iβm even more careful nowadays whilst walking - running has become so important in my life that I hate the thought of jeopardising it. πββοΈπββοΈ
Thank Runsome, they are rather nice arenβt they? Shame to get them muddy, but never mind itβs their job! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπ
ππ€£π but you are an actual πββοΈ right! And once you have had your gait analysis, your πππ are going to have to go so much faster to keep up with you xx
I know Flara! π I havenβt been this excited about anything new since my Garmin at Christmas! Running has made me enjoy shopping (but only for running stuff!) ππππββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Thanks HS, I wish theyβd been on Amazon Prime then theyβd have arrived tomorrow - but boo they werenβt. Hopefully by Thursday as thatβs when I usually do my shorter run and I could give them a whirl then. π€ πββοΈ
Cheeky, if your gait analysis does suggest you need corrective shoes, I've no doubt the shop will be delighted to also sell you corrective insoles for your new trails - well worth taking them along. I got some for mine, then ran without them having seen the thing about not needing correction on trails - and picked up a sore right achilles which has taken the best part of a week to quieten down. I think my gait gradually changed when I first got my supportive road shoes (moved to mid-foot strike from heel) and my tendons didn't like reverting to no support. Just a thought β¦..
Not cheap though - 40% or so on top of the shoe price .
Very good idea there UTS, thanks so much. Yes, Iβll definitely take them along. Do you think I should wait for the gait analysis before trying them out then? Itβs on Feb 5th, so not long. I *think* Iβll be able to resist giving them an outing if necessary! Or do you think a tiny trot will be ok? ππββοΈ
It might be a good idea mightnβt it Dexy? Itβs only a few more days after all, plus the forecast is for very cold weather this week so I might be gym bound if itβs too bad. βοΈ βοΈ
UTS and I have been comparing notes on trails. I got sore lower calves after running about 7k....my longest run in them. Yesterday I did 8k in my road shoes which have a bit of stability and I was fine. On the hunt for insoles! Definitely worth checking out. Lady in the running shop said she would never run more than 50 miles in trails .......I just nodded π
I think Iβm going to take them along to my gait analysis on the 5th and get insoles if they think itβs necessary. Iβd hate to pick up an injury just because I couldnβt wait an extra few days. πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Whoa. Not my bag, think Iβll stick to my 10k runs, but what an incredible achievement for those seasoned runners! πββοΈππͺ
Theyβre dead smart cheeky! Very cool π
I did a little bit of off roading today. Really enjoyed it... Iβm either thinking waterproof socks, or trail shoes... obviously I want the shoes π ...might have to get some now that you have πβ‘οΈ
You're so lucky being able to buy online. I've got such stupid shaped feet I just have to try them on first.
I've been toying with getting trail shoes, and UpTheStanley 's tip about getting insoles for extra support is something I'd not thought of. My road shoes have been fine on muddy, uneven trails so far, but with more wild weather forecast I think a trip to my local running shop may be on the cards. You have inspired me!
Excellent TC, I hope you can find some nice ones. π Trail running is a new idea for me as Iβd never really considered it before. But since running on the common a while ago and realising how much more Iβd be able to do with the proper footwear, I began mulling it over. Didnβt take much mulling! πββοΈπββοΈ
Those look fab. Ok I am jealous too. My head has been turned by talk of flip belts, Garmin watches, colourful leggings, foxy socks..... and now I realise I just need trail shoes for when I trot off to the woods with the dog.
Start Running they say..... itβs free, they say. π. Have a fab run in them.
Thank you Dreams β€οΈ I canβt wait to explore my local common for starters, and then Iβm going to tackle the gorgeous woods which are close by too - a lovely 2km circuit, but bonkers hills. My goal is set! πͺ
