Hello everybody and welcome to week 2 of the 10 is the Magic Number 10k Plan. So how are you getting on? Have you been planking? I have and yes it’s hard!!!
So, this week the runs are:
3k
5k
6k
And this weeks Magic Extra is..... a SQUAT. Here is the best link I could find.... and also includes some extras you might like to try:
Unfortunately had to stop during my long run of week 1 on Tuesday due to calf pain. It is getting back to normal but just resting it to ensure no longer term damage - looks like I'll be having to catch up with the rest of the panther cubs now!
Will have to take it easy next couple of days. So loved the sprinting bits of the 30:20:10 I went out yesterday and did 6 lots. Felt like a child again sprinting for 10 secs...
Realised later my back felt a bit twingey. Think I may have been a bit over exuberant! Sure i’ll Be fine but will walk not run over the weekend
My 3rd run W1 Magic 10 completed this morning. I felt it in my tummy muscles today . 5.5k completed. ✔️Looking at my stats I can see why I felt the burn though I smashed 1m16 off my previous 5k on Wednesday 😜
So JuJu the next run is 3k? Working up to 6 by next weekend.... are we planking and squatting because at this rate I just might get fit!🤣
Yay well done, and I haven’t been very prescriptive about the strength stuff as I just want people to get used to doing them. I suggest doing them both on your non running days?
I was meant to do my first park run today, but I my ankle was a bit sore, after a game of netball...so I'm leaving it until Monday. So I'm behind as Well..! Doing the planks though 😀 going out on my bike too.
Looking forward to the squats bit.....not!! Planks were ok but i hate squats. Maybe I'll learn to love them. Just finished week 1 today with my first ever sub 30 5k parkrun even managing a last few yards burst of speed. Looking forward to week 2 😊😊
Right ju-ju, I’m hopping on this week, working my way back up to 10k and seeing if I can shed a few snails en route! 🐌🐌
I quite enjoy planks (weirdo), as I do them in yoga. Not toooo many though! 😅
Would I be able to request my Graduation10 badge though? I ran my 10k on Thursday and I can’t wait to see it! 🏅🏅🏅 I posted on the grad link, so I apologise for asking again! 😅 Thanks! ❤️❤️
Right I'm on it with the running but shy of the planks...only done once....naughty naughty. Will really try to improve the motivation this week though we did a whole load of high intensity leg work in Pilates this week!
ju-ju- I will have to postpone my adventure with Magic 10. I will keep consolidation runs and build up my muscles with strength training before I reach for 10K.
So please cross me out from this edition participants. But do no fear, I'll be back!!! Better prepared
I managed the long run for week 2 yesterday as I had time in the morning and I know I'll be pushing it to fit in the runs this week. Lovely morning and I notice my times are starting to improve without me particularly focusing on them. I need to look at the squats though - no excuse on the time front for them!
Thanks Ju-ju for adding me onto the list. Also did the long run of for week 2 (6k) yesterday. Hoping to do 5k tomorrow. My speed's not that great at all. I just focus on completing the distance for now. I do enjoy going out for a run. Happy running everyone
Did the 5k of week 2 today. Hopefully will do the 6k on Thursday.
I'll have to work out new routes for the longer runs, the forest roads I use are currently mud baths as there's trees being felled so there's lots of heavy machinery chewing up the roads.
I could just run up and down the same bit of road to get the distance, but it's literally up and down as there's hills and I don't think I can convince my legs to run up , down and back up again.
Really enjoying this programme. Just a few squats and planks today and I'll have completed week 2. Just the small matter of a sons wedding tomorrow and it'll be on to week 3 😊😊😊
