Hi lovely running friends, I ran the Croydon 10K in 1:02:39 earlier, according to the official timing. Thatβs a PR for me so very please with that ππ
I took it slowly and carefully over the first 1.5K as it was all uphill and we were running on the pavement next to a fairly busy road.
The next 1K was on a road that had been closed so we had a bit more room to spread out π
After that, the next 2K was downhill then flat so it was quite a nice section πββοΈ
After that it was a mixture of uphill and downhill for about the next 4K or so π³ so needed to pace myself, which I seemed to manage OK π
The final section was vaguely uphill towards the finishing straight. π It was great to see the finishing line ahead so I tried to speed up a little bit and cheered myself over the line ππ
Thanks everyone for getting me this far. I couldnβt have done this without you all!β€οΈπ

Woohoo David, thatβs fabulous news! Very well done, and a great time too! How exciting - sounds like you nailed the uphill sections too. πππππ
Congratulations David, that sounds like a race well ran! Uphill bits too π±. Great time, and love that you cheered yourself over the finish line! Sounds like a rather challenging course, but look at your time! A testament to the hard work you have put in, so well done! x
Thanks Sadie-runs π I couldnβt contain myself at the finish π but it was a PB and I enjoyed it all so why shouldnβt I celebrate? π Everyone around the route was so supportive which makes a big difference to running on your own. Thank you Croydon, the organisers and London Tramlink for making it a special day for everyone! ππππ
Well done David! All your hard work and training has paid off...a brilliant time. Sounds like a race well run! Congratulations ππΌπββοΈπ π
Huge congratulations David, well done!! Brilliant time too. So pleased you enjoyed the run and managed the hills with finesse. Well deserved celebration
Well done Dave, that's a very good time for an undulating course.ππ So many of us ran today...no doubt we'll all be googling for the next one, now!ππ½ββοΈππ»π
Thanks Sandra, Iβve got the London Winter 10K βοΈβοΈin February on the calendar already, but Iβll need to find some more. πAfter todayβs performance I may well sign up for the Croydon half marathon in March as a longer term goal. π³ππββοΈ
Sounds good. I have a10k in November and and then looking to do my second half marathon in early spring...either the Surrey Half or possibly one a little sooner.π
Thanks Agelesslass, it was a tough course with lots of uphill and downhill stretches! π³ Iβd run most of the route beforehand which helped a lot.π
The marshals were great and there were people cheering us on from time to time which was a great help! ππ
My medal is now taking pride of place at home π πββοΈ
Fantastic David. Sounds like a bumpy up and down course. How nasty to finish with an uphill. You did a great time. Well done.
Thanks Paulanoo, the uphill sections at the start and finish were definitely a challenge π³
I was very pleased with my time and I came 10th in my age group which amazed me. πMind you, I donβt know how many people were in my age group! π
Iβm going to look for my next challenge today π
Well done you! Sooner or later we all have to run uphill. π³
My advice is just to take it slowly and steadily and not look all the time at the top of the hill. Just concentrate on putting one foot in front of the other and youβll get there! Good luck with it all ππ
