Thought I ought to try 5k today as I haven't actually run one for nearly 3 weeks, since my first park run. Had a couple of bad wobbly runs after that but last few runs have been fast ish 4ks.
Plotted out a 5k mostly road or path route around the town, ending on the railway line I usually run along.
Saw so many people I know and that was fine. I've stopped hiding.
It was so so windy and damp and very mild so long sleeved top came off quickly!! Wasn't a fast run but completely comfortable all the way. I enjoyed the slower pace and it allowed me to run up the hills and to carry on running just beyond the 5k.
I did struggle running down a steep slope! The slowest part of the run!
Have planned an extension to the route for next week!

Well done for your 5K run today, glad you enjoyed it just relaxing despite the wind. I just hope that "railway line" is now disused line, possibly a walk way cycle path, there are many of them around where I live, they are wonderfulπ for walking,πΆ running π and cyclingπ΄
Ha! Yes it's a disused railway. Used to be part of the Midland and South Western Junction Railway. Now managed by Sustrams. It is reasonably flat. I have access to two 5k sections. Perfect ππ€
I used to cycle along a disused railway line managed by Sustrams about 10 miles from where I live, but that line has reopened to 90 mph electric trains, however, as part of the contract, Scotrail paid Sustrams money to reroute the cycle/walkway along the side of the reopened railway line.
I travel on that line on the train of course twice a year on a visit to Edinburgh, at the Edinburgh Festival in August and just before π€Ά πChristmas
Well done Ang! Doesnβt the phrase βa nice relaxed 5kβ still seem incredible to you? It does to me, only having started C25K in June. Arenβt we clever? πββοΈπββοΈ
Hope South Wales isnβt too crazy windy for you today. Iβm not far from there, and itβs blowing a hooley. Should be a character building parkrun this morning! π³
