Over Bevlar bridge with featherlight feet this morning..

Good morning my lovelies, what beautiful weather we’re having eh?? Last time I was out was last Friday, I did intend to run on Mon morning but after i’d put the recycling out & walked the dog I realised that somewhere along the way I’d lost my door key so that put a stop to that!! I ended up walking to DaddyCav’s job to nick his key, thought I’d take advantage of the distance & nice weather seeing as my run wasn’t happening! Rescheduled run for Tuesday but child No2 was poorly during the night meaning day off school...Wed morning was out of the question for a run as DaddyCav was having the day off and had plans...so this morning it was...I couldn’t wait, I literally had butterflies as the anticipation of a recovery run was too much!! I parked the car, sucked on my whizzer, put in my dreadphones (still haven’t got new ones) & set off on my 8 min warm up...no pain, just a spring in my feet...over the first bridge with the cobbles, which I always walk over for safety reasons! Had a quick lean against the wall to stretch my tender ankle & set off, my feet landing like feathers on the tow path...I was so glad that everything felt ok...1km in and still ok, yes, I could feel it but tried not to concentrate too much on it & take in my surroundings...before I knew it I was at ‘Bevlar’ bridge, I made that name up while I was running across it this morning, made me laugh.....by the time I’d reached 3k I was starting to feel it, so I walked a little bit then started up again, I did this on the next announcement & just before running back over Bevlar bridge...then made myself carry on until Strava told me I’d reached 5k...this wasn’t my intention this morning I just wanted to satisfy my yearning for a run so the fact that I have run (mostly) 5k today has livened my spirits again, I can see light at the end of the tunnel...I am going to the running shop this afternoon to celebrate!!! And I’M NOT LIMPING!! Woo hoo!!!! I’m coming back slowly but surely...Yey!!!!!

Bev-lar! What a brilliant, lovely, inspiring post! I am so proud of you lass. You have dealt with your injury like a true pro, and I am happy to see you on the up and up. Must have felt GREAT to be put running again, and I am glad autumn came through for you with a gorgeous day. Please do tell us what you buy as your treat! I love hearing about everyone’s running purchases. 😁 xxx

Thanks Sadie, it felt great today, honestly I was so relieved when I got to 3k, yes I walked a few steps here & there but I was just listening to my body...the weather was beautiful...I have to go back to the running shop to try on some Clouds as they didn’t have my size so watch this space x 😉

Honestly, stopping for a few steps here and there is good, as is listening to your body. Good work, lassie. 👍 And I recommend the Cloudflyers - they have stability but are pretty light. 😊 But do try them on the treadmill and see how they feel for you. God I’m so excited you are getting new shoes - how sad am I?! 😂 xxx

in reply to Sadie-runs

About as sad as me - I'm dying to see her photos of the new shoes xxx

That's lovely! I've missed a couple of weeks of posts, what did you do?

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to Joy57

Hi Joy57 ...I didn’t really do anything but I have been to the running shop this aft and he says the heel drop in my shoes might be too low?? I had another hair analysis and I’m still neutral so it’s not that...when I get my new trainers we’ll have o see if it makes a difference

Joy57 profile image
Joy57Graduate10 in reply to Mummycav

Predictive text makes me laugh sometimes - I'm assuming you had gait analysis, not hair! 😀

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to Joy57

😂😂😂😂 hadn’t noticed that!! That’s hilarious....I’ve just had my hair cut so he may have been analysing that whilst filming my feet?! Lol...🙄

So glad you got running in the end, fab writeup, fab photo - and is that the beefcake escaping along the towpath? Meanwhile, we want photos from your running shop trip!!! xxx

Thanks Hidden ....hahaha, nope, that’s not the beefcake, although his calves were like flippin boulders!! He looked like he was on a mission though this fella, he snook off into the bushes when we got round the corner though....🤨

Glad to hear you're back on track! Love the picture too. Hope your new shoes make a difference. I went out to buy the cloud flyers but came back with Hokas. Am not disappointed though as they've made a big difference to the ankle pain I was getting. I hadn't realised how worn my Brooks were and got a bit of a ticking off in the shop!! Looking forward to seeing new shoe pics & hope they help with your ankle niggles too. X

I actually tried Hokas on, they were very comfy & a close second..I think my new balance have had enough mileage now, they’ve had a heck of a journey! I hope new shoes will help too, I can wait to get them x
