Just a bit of FunπŸ€”πŸ™ˆ

Just read our Flick’s recent achievements, 10K PB last Saturday and followed up with a 3rd best 5k that she described as a knackered plod.

I think I will forever name my 3rd best 5k as the knackered plod.

This prompted me to think about perhaps for a bit of fun in coming up with my own exertion scale and perhaps rename my understanding of even the names I use for walking,Jeffing, shuffling, jogging, running, threshold, sprinting, long pace, happy pace, all day pace and any distance and severity, endless really.

As I am male and interestingly Flick used a male term, I think πŸ€”,

here are a couple of my thoughts for renames on an exertion scale 1-10.

5k 3rd best PB, shuffling/jogging/ Niko Niko, that just has to be a knackered plod.πŸ€”

Any distance flat out, sprinting, that is balls out.πŸ€”.This is 10.

10K in a hour, hernia hour.

Lordi, do not know what to come up with for these sub performances on any distance.

Marathon/ultramarthon happy hernia pace. πŸ€”

0 is couch. So couch cough, test will definitely be needed at sometime and more.πŸ€”

Have a go for a bit of fun.

Maybe a new language and training regime awaits and challenges the traditional and the latest HIT and mitochondria renewal methods that do have proven results of fitness and health improvements and life extension.

Hi Tbae, I love your exertion scale for running, I tend to only use two names for running based on the time it takes to run a certain distance, perhaps three. Based on a 5K, anyone who can run that distance in less than 30 minutes is a runner, that does not apply to me, anyone who can run a 5K in 30 to 45 minutes is a jogger, yes, hopefully I can do it in that time frame, I suppose I could use the word plodder for anyone who completes a 5K over 45 minutes. I am back again after my sore hip and hope to jog a 5K this Saturday sub 45 minutes

Hi Alan,

Good luck on Saturday.

So if you run sub 45 mins you will be a jogger but if it turns out to be your 3rd best 5k, I and Flick will be calling it a knackered plod.πŸ€”πŸ˜‚

Take care of you Alan and Atb for Sat.πŸ’₯πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’₯πŸ‘πŸ‘

At the end of June just before I got that sore hip my PB at 30 minutes was a pace of 06;52/KM with the distance 4km 366m, I think if I had not stopped at the 30 minutes I probably would have ran a full 5K in around 36 to 38 minutes, then the sore hip put me back months and had to rerun some of the program. Not sure if I can run as fast as I could back in June, I'll see how it goes on Saturday morning.

That’s a good pace Alan.

Do not go eyeballs out, a canter perhaps for your first , to use UTS terminology,

Look after yourself, you are in this for the long term.

update Tbae Saturday 6 October, Hi, at last, I ran a full 5K this Saturday morning, the weather here is brilliant, about 5C. Last Wednesday I reran week 9 run 3 so that gave me a good reason this Saturday to go all out and run a full 5K after my absence due to that sore hip I got about 3 months ago. I was sort of hoping to run it slightly under 35 minutes based on my times when I graduated and the times of the post-grad runs when I stopped at exactly 30 minutes. Today's distance was 5km 020m, pace 06:50/km duration, wait for it???? 0:34.21, so that's 39 seconds under 35 minutes, quite pleased with that BUT my goodness me it was the hardest run I have done, in all the runs I have done I have never been as tired as I was this morning, but quite pleased or as they say here, chuffed. I hope you are keeping well.

Regards

Alan

That’s a Brillant result Alan.

So well done.

You should enter the October speed challenge over on Marathon.

PS I have just noticed a pace statistic way back in June with one of my post graduation runs, I ran at a pace of 6.52k on 23 June but stopped at exactly 30 minutes of running, the Strava stats say that if I had continued on to 5k I would have ran it in 34.20. Yesterday as I told you my pace very slightly quicker at 6.50k and the time I ran was 34.21.Now that's only a difference of 1 second. After the 6 weeks off I am a bit surprised at that time, perhaps the reruns did help a lot with the time I ran yesterday. Could not have ran it like that without repeating those runs.

Thanks Julia, woman of steel.I hope you are good.β˜„οΈ

I have not spent a lot of time on the forum.

But the magical motivation is just mind blowing.

Cannot believe what I am reading from links that are both posted and runners achievements.

WOW, WOW, it moves you to running tears, secured by its golden threads.

Need to get savi at reposting others links.

Take good care of you.

Loved your son’s birthday present to you.πŸ’₯πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ†πŸ‘‘πŸ’₯β˜„οΈ

Love that.πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I think Abi, woman of steel ,

I can already see the need for different scales.Abilities,gender,weather,etc.One size does not fit all.πŸ™ˆ

Who started this anyway.πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚πŸ’₯πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’₯

Despite never having been atop a horse in my life, I use "trot" for minimum effort, "canter" for Parkrun pace and "gallop" for balls out - I've always said "eyeballs out" before but you seem to have got away with it Tbae …… :-)

Tbae profile image
Tbae in reply to UpTheStanley

I love trot, canter and gallop.

Hi UTS, I think eyeballs out is much classier.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘.Will use that now.

Pinkaarvark got away with it,and more , πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚, but he does also give some magic links, those young bulls UTSπŸ€”πŸ˜‚, so he is just a trail blazer and a classy runner like you.

Given me lots to think about, just love the horse 🐎 analogy.

Even if I am an old donkey ready for the knacker yard.πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

The Brillant thing is UTS for some , if you do not leave it too late we can renew our mitochondri. How amazing our bodies are.β˜„οΈβ˜„οΈβ˜„οΈ

Go you sub everything you are amazing.πŸ’₯πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’₯β˜„οΈ

Haha. I'm not very descriptive about my runs and just call them "the slow one", "a hilly one", "a fab one", " the c**p one", blah blah. But now you've got me thinking Tbae .....πŸ€”

Tbae in reply to Irishprincess

Love that IP., call a spade a spade and not a shovel.

I was looking at Lordi’s post and a link he supplied with a Niko Niko video, it was in Japanese, ignorant me thought the Borg number on self assessed exertion was 1-10, it appeared on that video briefly very descriptive, very thorough, and covering a much larger range than that. Really looked impressive .Lots to catch up with for me.

Got to have a laugh IP, but I can honestly cry running tears of joy with the minding blowing links that you see on this magic forum.

Mitochondria renewal, how lucky we are that opportunity may exist.

Take good care of you.πŸ’₯πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’₯β˜„οΈ

Yes Mike, and that is the awesome Crib Goch ARÊTE in the foreground.

Yes a magic place, but demands respect.

Every time I look at that, I cannot believe that the elites run over it during the Berghaus Dragon’s Back.Male and female.

Could not even start to think of a running name or exertion handle for that.πŸ™ˆ

You must be delighted with your progress. You are absolutely flying both on distance and pace.

Keep leading and showing us the way.πŸ’₯πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’₯β˜„οΈπŸ‘πŸ‘
