I’ve been a bit quiet recently because of some hip niggles, that has knocked my confidence in my body a bit. The last thing I want to do now is end up on the IC with more irreparable damage than I already have.
So the last time I ran was Tuesday evening - a 4K Steady Run trying to engage the gluteals and not let my elbows be any more forwards than my bra straps. It wasn’t comfortable. I had to tread very very lightly to get to the end and it worried me.
The other thing is we are away on holiday now - driving round Scotland in a motorhome with the dog. Still have the Game of Thrones theme as an ear worm travelling around Wester Ross (which makes a change of ear worm from that damn ‘baby shark’ tune), I’ve bought my kit, but haven’t really felt like running - until today. Today I’ve been fidgety and wanting to fill my lungs a bit and stretch my legs. We have been doing a few beaches in the North (ok Scots, great sense of humour calling this most
northerly place ‘Sutherland’ ????!!!!) and I found myself trying to work out how far I’d run and whether they were long enough.
So, I am almost there. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe Tuesday. I think the repair days are doing me good 😁
Happy running all!

Niggles are a worry and annoying. Don’t be afraid of taking a week off though! It can do the legs some real good, and you won’t lose any fitness in a week, especially if you do some walking. I took a week off running (also in Scotland, coincidentally!) and it really helped up my running game. 😁 I love running, but am a firm believer in taking time out now and again. It makes you stronger! Enjoy your hols in bonnie 🏴 Scotland. xx
Sorry to hear that. I had quite pronounced hip pain during and after the 8k run on the Magic 10 plan. Had 3 days off and it disappeared, never to return, even on longer runs. Fingers crossed yours is the same, but have a great holiday!
Sorry to hear about your niggles. But rest is good. I took a week off due to work and, well, life and the next time I ran I did a 5k and got a new PB!!
Niggles, injuries etc are all a worry, but just take it steady as you go and do it slowly, no good rushing any of it. You have that lovely place to escape to too, so take your time and be kind to yourself. Rooting for you x 🙂👍
