I’m a bit behind on the old B25K plan but this morning I did week 2’s 5k. It was also my first Parkrun! Photo is of me and the parkrunners, not in a park, but on Hove seafront.
I picked up speed in the 4th kilometre as I tried to work out how to run ‘from the hips’. Still not sure if I’m doing it right but getting a ‘running MOT’ on Wednesday so will see how that goes. Think this will have to be my last bit of spending on running for a while though as all the shoes and physio is mounting up!
I think the new shoes are helping with the hard surface. I ache all over at the mo but I’m putting that down to also borrowing a ‘Brighton Bike’ yesterday and going cycling for the first time in donkey’s years.
I think I’ll go for W2R3 and 6k on Monday though I am a bit daunted by it.
I got my Parkrun results about an hour after the run. I did 5k in 29:31 and was 264th out of 366 runners. Bit knackered now. Time for a chocolate hobnob.

Yeah, relearning something as ingrained as ‘how you move’ seems a bit crazy but I’m going to have a look at it and see if I can learn some improvements.
Well done you, Jimmers. That’s an excellent 1st Parkrun. I used to live in Hove in the 80s and loved its wide prom. Parkrun hadn’t been thought of then. Good luck with your b210k - I’m on the same week as you.
