Safety equipment

Hello all, I have not yet run in the dark as I started the program in spring. I’m a morning runner but have been thinking about carrying a personal alarm or something.

Any recommendations for safety equipment. Including a torch?

TIA

Any old headtorch on amazon should do the trick, the rechargeable ones are good though. I also run with an led band around my arm, but also have led clips that go on the back of the shoes. You can get all manner of things quite cheaply these days though to see and be seen. I used this headtorch last winter and it is still going strong amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01...

As for an alarm, i'm not a fan as I find they chafe s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/1...

You want to be lit up like a downtown Christmas tree🎄 Your run tights, shoes, jacket, headband/hat should have reflective bits all over them but as well as that you could carry a shall hand torch with wrist strap. I have a headtorch - Lenser LED one The lights that attach to run shoes are nuisance value. They drop off too often so I put them round my wrists instead 😃

Head torch for me and this alarm

It's light, easy to carry, easy to use and cheap!

...these alarm key rings look good IP. Often feel I should be carrying something on the dark lonely runs but don't want anything too bulky. I may get one of these. ☺

Well, you know me with my axe murderers 😭🙄 I've ordered several for my mum and friends Sandra. Just don't "test" it in the company of very young children or animals - apparently they go nuts 😩

...well I keep a close eye open for them myself, too! And yes, Personal alarms and pets/children is not a great combo!😲

I do have a lot to think about. I guess I had better start collecting.

For some reason I am not a fan of head torches so I have one of these chest lights. Absolutely love it for running in the dark. Hope the link works.☺

I’m not sure about a head light either. I struggle to wear hats so this could be good. Maybe with a high vis vest too. They seem to light up at the back.

..my one was bought a couple of years ago and actually has a flashing red light on the back too! They seem to have changed it a little. Hi viz vest sounds like a good idea too.
