Good morning all...happy Friday...happy running...

Just got back from W5r1 4K...and I have to say it was a lovely, lovely run...took me the first 5 mins to settle into my rhythm...today I took a bottle of water but I don’t think I’ll do that again because it was an excuse to stop & have a drink...so I left it under a bush to collect on the way back!!! What I did take with me that was an absolute god send was a wet buff...I soaked it & wrapped it round my wrist twice...I wiped my face with it ever so often & it was so refreshing...I am going to stay on track now, I WILL get to 10k.

Today my thoughts were of my friends two little boys that I had taken under my wing...things have changed, as they often do, not always for the best....I will always be there for them if they ever need me & I will always worry for them....these thoughts are what kept me going today 😰

Have a lovely weekend, if your children are breaking up today for the Summer holidays, enjoy your time off with them....enjoy making memories with them, time is precious xxx

MC 😘

Oh I have never stopped for a drink, just drunk on the hoof. Never even thought to stop. Does your bottle have a bite valve so you can just get a sip? You may want something for the longer runs, just thinking of what happened to poor flick the other day getting all swooney.

Oh and congrats on the great run . Typical bloke response focusing on the technical :)

Little runner isn't at school yet so get to enjoy the whole summer with him screaming at me because he wants an ice cream from the freezer at 3:30am hehe

MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply topinkaardvark

Haha yes, I’ll have to remember you for the technical dept!! It’s just one of those sports bottles that you put your hand through...and you pull the big at the top with your teeth & push it down with your tongue, hopefully without trapping the tip of your tongue!!!

Bless him...it’s all fun & games isn’t it?!!

Well done Mummycav , this is fun, isn't it? You're doing brilliantly too.

You know what? You certainly will get to 10k. The determination you've shown throughout C25k is still shining through, I just know you can and will do it.

So sorry to hear things are worse with the boys :( I know running doesn't help the situation, but it should at least help you to make sense of it and work through the emotions a bit. Running's great for that.

You take care, yeah? Sending hugs your way, fellow northerner :)

Great post and you’re so right about time being precious - thanks for the reminder. As I didn’t know what a wet buff was (still don’t!) I typed it into google and results made me laugh, mostly products purchased from Screwfix and not sure how or why you’d put these round your wrist?!! 😀🙄😀

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply toJelon

Ha ha ha that’s hilarious!!!! A buff is what you can put around your neck, usually in winter, you pull it up over your mouth & nose to keep warm...running, wearing a buff can also make you prone to being mistaken for a burglar or thief!!! I once googled the company who made my curtains...they are called ‘Well hung’...imagine my surprise??!!!!!!! Wow....

‘Well hung’ now that is hilarious😂🤣😂

Aww, you're welcome. Pups are okay, still eating the grass, earth, tree cuttings lol, I had an abscess removed from tummy yesterday, unexpectedly, so been off work today as I just felt out of sorts. I'm okay though, thanks lovely xx

I've never taken a drink and often wished I just had something to take the dryness away from my mouth. I just don't relish the thought of having to carry anything.

Counting down 30 minutes to my lunchtime run...............

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply toMikeJones68

I absolutely agree MikeJones68 ...carrying the bottle got on my nerves...and when you drink you have to stop breathing, well, I would have to run with someone for safety because I would need mouth to mouth!!! I thought about one of those novelty hats from Blackpool with the cans on the side & a straw...might look a bit like a hooligan though?? Hahahaha...how was your run?

It was discovered/devised by our resident running coach. It takes in hills, tracks and woodland, so a good mix!

Nice, does he want to come to Yorkshire & figure one for me? I could do with a route with a bit of everything 😉

Looks like a nice place to run being away from buildings etc., although I really don't like running back the same way I have come!

OUr route is good, although I could live without the uphill parts ;)

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply toMikeJones68

Yes, it can be a bit boring running back the same way, I do sometimes just keep running without turning round but that makes it a flipping long walk back to the car!! 🙄 I had to turn round today to collect my water bottle that I strategically placed on my ‘victory steps’ (where I sat when I ran 7, my longest ever run at the time!!!)

Irishprincess profile image
IrishprincessGraduate10 in reply toMummycav

Have you considered a belt that holds your water bottle? I don't know how runners hold a bottle in their hands when they run, something else to think about 😭

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply toIrishprincess

I have but don’t they wobble?? I’ve only just got rid of wobbly middle bits 😂😂...it was getting on my nerves today...and the swishing noise sounded like my stomach!!

Irishprincess profile image
IrishprincessGraduate10 in reply toMummycav

The bottles still make a swishing sound but you get used to it and at least people can hear you coming up behind them! I have two belts, a Nathan for two bottles and .... oops sorry can't remember, but for one bigger bottle! But no they don't move and sit comfortably on your hips. I've read that carrying a bottle creates an imbalance which makes sense but I guess do whatever is comfortable for you. But I like to have my hands free in case those pesky axe murderers catch me unawares 😭😏 🙄

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply toIrishprincess

Haha...yes, those axe murderers...not that they’d catch you!! I’m going to invest in a bottle belt then...I did think about one of those new wine handbags with the tap on the end but I’d prob end up floating 10k face down in the canal 😂😂 hic...

Now there's an idea.....😋

A better run today for you Mummycav, a little easier maybe because you have that 8k in the bank!

Picking up a tinge of sadness today over your thoughts on those little boys...life will go on.. you won't forget your friend and she will always be their mummy in heaven.

Well done keeping up your running schedule with all the madness of end of term and holiday preperation 😊xxx

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply toBluebirdrunner

Thank you Bluebirdrunner ...yes, there’s some sadness there at the moment, things change, people take advantage of other peoples kindness & it hurts, but, like you say, life does go on & the help & love I’ve given them will hopefully have been cemented somewhere in their hearts xx

Keeping running through the chaos of everything is priority...I’ve planned the summer around running, already thinking of routes I can take in France...first time tourist running & I’m so looking forward to it, my trainers & Lucra will be the first thing that goes in the car!!! 😉 xx

Hi Bev.,

8k so well done you.👍

The drinks stuff and drinking and eating on the run is interesting.

Something you may want to consider.

I hated carrying stuff and thought I had it all sorted in the woodland park where I run.

I used the Welsh stone walls as casual drink stations until one morning at 0600 in the morning Somone walked off with my Nike drinks bottle.Well that was not going to work with a run of at least 210 mins.🙈😂

New plan small backpack with Welsh water plastic bottles and Ella’s kitchen smoothies for children.Practised never stopping pack off, bottle out smoothie out etc and return while never stopping.

Many tips from forum, when I came to do my HM, I used the advice crunch up to 5k, and on completion reward yourself with drink and fruit smoothie.

For me worked a treat for the first 15k. 3 refuelling palavers🙈. Never had been further. Anyway got through it. 21.1k.

It was our Panther leader’s idea.

Think about your 8-10 k distance perhaps in 2-4 bits and reward yourself with what you need water/ drink and jelly babies / smoothie/ sugar at each stage.

Yes Bev, little and often is the way to keep yourself topped up. Avoid depleting your energy reserves.👍

Your determination is a given, and it will help you utilise a further tip, just lock the distance in.

Whenever and where ever you choose to do your long run, first lock in the distance, then all your routine prep etc leading upto the time you have planned, your resolve and your determination will remain loyal and true. Do not even doubt that for a moment.👍👏👏

One more thing from JuJu, she keeps herself in a permanent state of HM fitness and readiness.

That for me is just so clever and a simple way of approaching things.

Forget the distances, the lessons are the same and can be applied, just for the moment this 10 k is your HM until you have completed your adaption and strengthening.

We all know you are going to do this and with your determination so do you.🤔

I am still laughing about the curtains company, I wonder if they got repeat orders with a name like that🤔🙈😂😂💥🏃‍♀️💥

You’ve got some real tips up your sleeve...& there’s loads on the forum to try...shame about someone nabbing your bottle?!!!! Ju-ju is a panthering machine...and someone to look up to...thank you for your encouragement, with everyone on here willing me on I can almost see the podium!!

Can you imagine my surprise when I googled well hung???? They have a shop now so no need to google anymore 🤣🤣🤣 x

Yes, you WILL get to 10K I have no doubt whatsoever.

Lovely runs are for the memory bank as we can recall them when we have ☹️ ones.
