Brought Down To Earth.

Last run on Friday felt like I slightly pulled a muscle in my hip region. On Sunday night it still was not quite right so decided to forgo my Monday run and start again Wednesday morning 6am.

It did not go well from the start. When 1st starting out I run along a tarmac track about 6 feet wide and this is where my toxic 10 plays out. Anyway today I had been going about 3 mins and came across 2 owners walking their dogs (3 in all). They were on leads but owners having a hard time stopping them having a bit of a punch up or it may have been a kissing session. Result was I had to stop as no way through all the legs, 16 in all.

I got going again and was nearing the end of my toxic 10 and still on the narrow tarmac when I heard voices behind me and for some reason I thought they were cyclists. A few mins later the path opened up onto a big green and 2 young ladies I would say in their 20`s jogged past me, I went to the right & they went left.

I felt really good as I always get the feeling that as people jog past me going in opposite direction that they are looking at me panting & struggling , I am after all looking at them!!!!!! They seem to glide along in the perfect running form with no effort. I then take a leaf Flicks book and pretend I am not struggling, perfect posture & speed up but it does not work and I collapse after they have passed(-: (-:

Anyway as I said I felt good because I thought my pace was slow but this 2 young ladies did not catch me up and overtake me. I felt on top of the world knowing my pace was not looking like an injured snail, and then it hit me, big time!!!!!

These 2 young ladies could see an old fart in front of them head nearly touching the floor weaving all over the shop and breathing like an old steam train. If only I could have told them it is only my toxic 10 and I will be in perfect running form any minute now. On top of that what I did not realise at 1st was they were non stop talking all the time!! So there I was struggling at my pace and they were still in 1st gear.Oh well never mind.

The fact that they were talking almost certainly means they didn’t really take much notice of you. They were probably talking about periods or orgasms or their boy/girl friends’ technique and too engrossed to notice another runner. And if they did notice you, no reason why they would judge you. I know I’m guilty of putting in a spurt when I see another runner approaching but I’m just vain. And I bet you didn’t look as bad as you think 😊

Blimey that seems a bit of boring talk, periods ,orgasms & boy/girl friends now if it was about tools & vintage cars and tidy tool racks in garage now that would be interesting(-: (-:

Got to admit flick I try and I say try to put on a spurt and try to stand upright when any runners is coming at me, Bit of a shock though when they speed past you and leave dust in your face(-:(-:

I even go as far as saying when I know I am flagging I sometimes put on a show when a car goes past, now that is super vain or more likely no confidence.

It is true though but other runners do not judge as they have been in the same position as us a some time.To be true virtually every runner I pass says hello or a quick wave.

Never been on a park run as yet, have you any plans once you move to go on a park run. I expect you learn a lot about pace etc. On our local park run about 300 turn up!!!!

I think you would breeze a park run now especially with the good times you are recording.

Ah, well I would rather talk about mobiles and camera stuff and running gear and computers, but people glaze over, so it has to be orgasms and such instead 😂

I would love to do some park runs. No parks here so it will have to wait. I’m seriously thinking of doing the British heart foundation charity 10km at Blenheim Palace at the end of September though.

I used to live & breath cameras once upon a time spending up to 5-8 hours a day in my darkroom. That was until lightening struck my roof and burnt most of my darkroom down together with all the gear which was replaced on insurance but not the loads of negatives I had, lost interest after that.

I think you should stop thinking and enter the Blenheim Place 10k. Lets face it you can run 10k and even further.Come end of September I am sure as long as you plan your pre runs to peak on race day you will be fine, and a medal to boot (-:

As you well know the more you think about something the more negatives you come up with.Once you have booked then you can start a positive running plan,go for it girl.

I have no qualms about the distance or the fact it’s hilly: Ive run several 10 and 11ks now. It’s just getting there as I don’t drive, but I’ve just seen the race isn’t till 11am so I should be fine to make it on the bus. I will have to look at the Sunday times. Mr I don’t snore would take me, but he will insist on bringing the dogs, and my lurcher panics in crowds.

Pah! Negatives. I was glad to ditch the wet stuff and go digital. All that going through a box of fibre paper to get the perfect print, then you look back at them years later and can’t see any difference! Digital photography using Lightroom and Photoshop is brilliant, and my camera slips into a pocket, has a range of pro lenses and gives pro results.
