Wasnβt looking forward to this after seeing the weather forecast. But got my gear on, throw son out off to to school and drove to the beach.
It was a punishing heat but was not going to let it beat me. When I hit 5k I did think Iβd stop then and do my 7k later in the week. No - you will beat this bloody heat! I carried on - found a renewed energy in my last K! Yay for me. (I also beat my last 7k by 5minsπ¬)
Nice cooling off of my feet after - perfect reward for dear little friends. π
**Pic no. 4: Iβve hated running in the heat - mouth feels so dry, fatigue kicks in and head stays βstop runningβ. I wanted to beat this as was not going to be able to get away from it this week. I havenβt taken water with me to date but thought maybe thatβs my problem. I saw the post about hydration tabs last week and thought Iβd try some.
Anyway whether it was a mental push or physical push it really helped. I took a tiny sip when I was flagging and I felt boosted.
8K - Iβm coming to get you next week!
Anyway - enough about me! Keep hydrated, pop your sun visors on and stay safe in this heat my running friends. πx

Iβm doing mine tomorrow. Busy running about replacing my fridge that died yesterday with all my birthday leftovers in !!! Also emptying cupboard under stairs ready for smart meter to go in and couple trips to the dump to get rid of the tree I butchered last evening. Iβll set alarm to get up early tomorrow I think. Midnight runs soon I think.
Fantastic achievement πππββοΈπββοΈπͺπ»πͺπ» well done and even in this heat !! βοΈβοΈπ₯βοΈπ₯Youβre on fire!! ππ
OMG, what a beautiful way to end a run, with a paddle in the sea! I am very jealous. Massive well done for getting out and running despite the heat. I am terrible at running in heat and although I am loving this beautiful weather, I do find myself longing for late autumn runs and the coolness.
I always take water on my summer runs, even my shorter ones. I get such a dry mouth in the heat!
Thanks Sadie. I realised today that I run along the beach but never enjoy it after. I told myself that would be my reward if I finished the 7k. Simple reward but so satisfying!
I hate this heat too and itβs my 1st summer running. Looking forward to cooler mornings to return. X
Great run ripcurl your doing great 10k coming your way no probs. Looks beautiful where you go running great pics, keep at it ππβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ
Wow well done, sounds like a brilliant run!! Lovely pics too, I went on the road instead of beach today as I felt I needed more shade but a paddle would have gone down a treat!
I didnβt feel great whilst running until the last k I knew it was nearly over! Beautiful but way too hot by the beach with no breeze. You took the better route. Well done to you too Jenny! Which run did you do?X
Iβm not getting much faster on the shorter runs either! Leaving the 5k Pb for now. Good luck with Wednesday. My next run is Thur and going to be hotter than today! But only a 5k. π
βOnly 5kβ, I bet a few months ago you wouldnβt think youβd be saying that? π
Iβm thinking itβs too hot to push for improvements in speed at the moment tbh, Iβm just glad if I can even get out and run the distance, I donβt cope well with heat at the best of times. I donβt know how people who live in hot countries cope for long periods of time!
Ha! I know I was chuckling as I wrote that. π Iβm not doing it for speed either - just to finish each run. I can work on that once Iβve reached 10K. I hate running in this too. π«
Lovely run ripcurlrana. I too ran far too late along the prom this morning so very warm. I envy you walking down the sandy beach to the sea for a foot bath. Scrambling down the pebbles of Southsea is not so appealing so retreated down to the coffee shop who mind the rucksack for us. They always have a bottle of cold tap water for us on arrival. 7k is impressive. I managed 4.5 today and hope to run 5 this Saturday at Parkrun. You are doing brilliantly π
Thanks Dexy. You are doing brilliantly too! Nice you have a friendly cafe nearby. Tbh it was getting pretty hot at 8 but that was the earliest I could go today. Think I may need to go out much earlier later in the week. x
Go on you! It was roasting yesterday and still humid with no breeze to speak of in the evening. I didn't go out until 9.30pm, and that was hard enough!!
Really inspiring to see your post.My week 6 will be by the sea...can't wait.I'm definitely making a plan ( with family -to get on with the morning without me) getting up at crack of dawn for my next week 3 run on Thursday.Fantastic achievement you.Rock-on Rana.
Well done Rip, yes, you are most definitely a running machine... βonly 5kβ etc
And your βslowβ pace for 7k is faster than my PB for 5k from Sunday!
Iβll be out very, very early tomorrow morning to avoid the heat - havenβt yet decided which of the week 3 runs Iβll do first, will see how I feel tomorrow.
Thanks Ian! Funny how 5k is a more pleasurable run now. π¬ Really did feel like I was jogging in the spot yesterday. Iβm going to get out before 6 to do my 5k this week too. Good luck tomorrow. π
