Seems a bit mad choosing to run a marathon but I decided it was only going to fester in my head like some annoying earworm until I managed to scoop it out as some later date so why not just get on with it.
It's been quite hard this week but definitely manageable. I have now run for 16 days straight and done 123k so far this month which seems like a lot but also seems like a good balance, next week is only 2k more I think so not pushing it too much.
I tried a couple of new things today, firstly I took another stab at running with sunglasses after buying some on amazon for 19.99. Thankfully these didn't steam up whatsoever even when I stopped and I was dripping in the heat, they also gripped the face extremely well and I didn't need to move them whatsoever, so big win there. These ones amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01...
Secondly after the discussion on do runners need salt, I tried some sis electrolyte drinks tablets, I bought a multi pack so today tried the cola flavour with added caffeine. They are like a berroca tablet and fizz when added to water, I was suspicious of the muddy brown mixture it generated but filled my water pouch and off I went. It actually tasted alright and I didn't seemed to drop off in energy after 10k. Downside is I almost *h5t myself as was looking for exit strategies at 12k, can't say that was the drinks fault as these things happen (i find more on early morning long runs) so I will have to retry cautiously before making a judgement there.
Was very hot today and I struggled to find any shade, I had to stop and stretch the calves after a couple of klicks and also loosen the runners loop (tried this after tbae mentioned it the other day) as not sure I need this extra hitch as it felt like my feet were a bit strangled.
Anyways thanks for coming along for the run.. next weeks a calling.
Oh and regarding streaking.. definitely having tomorrow off. I think
