Welcome to week 5 of the 10 is the Magic Number plan.
How are you all doing? I went for a nice gentle 5k back in the woods today which was wonderful. It’s amazing how everything changes through the seasons... ? So the plan this week is for a:
All going well so far. I'm starting each week on a Saturday with 5k at Parkrun then short run on Monday and longest run on Wednesday giving me two rest days before starting the next week.
Might have a bit of a hiccup next week as going away for a few days so will have to find an 8k route ... should be exciting!
Weather's looking good for a few days so happy running everyone!
Well done.... perhaps look at google maps to find a route close by??? When I go away I usually find a river so I can run down and back without getting lost, and there is usually a footpath....
All going well I think. Did my 8k of last week on Wednesday morning before work. It went really well, which obviously surprised me 😂 Feeling really good about this week as I know I can do it! Starting off with a gentle 4K tonight then my 8k on Sunday 🎉
Well my cold has almost gone but my chart looks more like a bingo card as I havent managed to do the runs in order 😂 It's the 5.5k from w1 on Saturday and then the 7k from w3 on Monday which should get it looking a bit more ordered!
I'm still on week 4. I did 8k this morning. and I'll get the 4k done on Sunday. I struggled with a wave of dizziness and nausea around the 7k mark. It happened to me on my long run last week as well. It wasn't too hot out, but still warm double digits. I slowed down and walked for a few minutes until it passed. After my run I was fine. Any ideas?
Did you take water? We’re you really pushing yourself as this might have sent your heart racing? I used to get a lot of this as I started to go further and I often take a few glucose ta let’s wrapped in foil that I can pop in my trousers.
I was pushing it a bit. I haven't carried water before. I don't feel thirsty when I run. I hydrate well the day and night before my run and an hour before. And I have water waiting in the car for when I'm finished. Also, I don't eat breakfast before I go. I know something needs to change for these longer runs I'm just not sure what. Is it blood sugar, blood pressure, sodium levels, hydration? Maybe for my next long run I'll eat something small and bring water/electrolytes with me? I better experiment before race day.
Obviously I don’t know and am guessing, but it could be because you were pushing. That’s a good thing to push but your body may still be getting used to it....
What a beautiful photo! Sadly I have developed a problem with the ligament in my right knee and have been told to hold off on running for now and cycle and swim instead to keep up fitness and use the muscles in my legs without aggravating the knee. Caught it early though so hopefully I’ll be back on track soon.
