Looking for sympathy 😢

I’m just a few days out of surgery and feeling down as I’m unable to run for at least 2 weeks. The worst of it is I’m back in the UK and the weather is gorgeous and all I can think about is running outside in the fresh air. I’m determined to get outside today somehow and manage a walk. It’s really tough.

It is tough, but sounds like it will be only a short time before you can start back. That’s a good position to be in.

Walking daily is great exercise and improves mood too. Aim for a little further each day. Then when you get to 3k or so, aim for a little faster each day.

Hope you are back to fitness soon.

I run because I can, and for those who cant🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻

Thank you millsie . You are right about the walking. I am going to try later today. A short walk to the local shops. I hope I don’t lose too much of my fitness.

Sorry to hear that, but those 2 weeks will soon pass and you'll be able to get back out there. A gentle walk should help relieve the frustration I guess. Just don't overdo it too soon.

Thanks Mike, walking will help I’m sure. Just being outside in the fresh air is uplifting. Feeling better already.

In two weeks you won't lose much fitness, Brian. I recently had a small op and was unable to run or go to the gym for 6 weeks. I sneaked in a run on the 6th week and did find it really tough but came in at 1hr 30 for a 10k instead of my normal 1hr 15 - 1hr 20 ish on a hot and quite tough course, so I hadn't lost much fitness. As you say, getting out in the fresh air will help. Wishing you a swift recovery!
