I suppose I should ask for my badge...

Hi all, it's been a while since I posted but I haven't stopped running (although work demands have cut me back a bit). I actually ran 10k a while ago but didn't get round to posting anything, however yesterday I did the Oxford Town & Gown 10k - my first race - so I figured I should come and share with you all as it's thanks to C25K that I was able to do the race and raise over £300 for Muscular Dystrophy UK in the process.

It was a beautiful race through the city in gorgeous sunny weather (a bit warmer than I would have wanted but lovely) and a great thing to experience.

I managed a time of 1 hour 3 minutes, which I was pleased with as I'm still secretly amazed I can do this running thing at all!

Wow what a great time!

Congratulations too 👍🏽

I'm going to embarrass you again by saying how proud i am of you. your time is brilliant. you've only been running since last autumn. You will get faster, wait and see. i don't think anyone did it in much under 50 minutes, judging by the announcements, and that includes young blokes in heavy training running for their colleges xxx

Thanks. 😊

The fastest was 33 mins for men and 38 mins for women - but I'm not expecting to ever get near those times lol

Wow, really? we must have arrived back too late to hear that.

Sorry I tell a lie - the fastest woman was 36 minutes - super speedy. You would still have been by the road when she finished.

Still, your speed will improve. Those speedy ones will have been in training for months and running since school. Your time was pretty darned good, and especially for how short a time you've been running.

Congratulations on a great run. You have me investigating the cambridge one hehe :) I have a HM on the 7th of Oct, so the T&G on the 21st of Oct seems doable :)

Go for it! It's amazing to get to run right through a beautiful historical city with the roads closed, definitely an experience.

I have done. Registered hehe. Be nice to do a race on the flat and on tarmac, all the other ones I have booked in are trail runs with mud and hills.
