Wednesday Run Cancelled Due To Twisted Pelvis

Tuesday Morning

I was next due to run Wednesday morning just gone. It was supposed to be raining hard which I do not mind, quite refreshing really. What I do not like is the 5 min warm up & slow down walk as it is then you are aware of water running down neck & back of shorts!!

Anyway Tuesday morning I was due to help my neighbour move a stone plant container up 2 patio steps. Not heavy just awkward for one person to move. I positioned myself with my feet 90 degrees to the steps, picked up the container and twisted from my hips to place container on step, done this twice.

As soon as I did this I knew I had done wrong as I could not walk or at least struggled to walk. I knew I had twisted my pelvis as not only is it very painful to walk, in my case my left pelvis comes up which makes my left leg about one inch shorter. This instanlrly has an effect on your lower back near the coccyx as it tries to compensate and that also becomes painful.

I was angry with myself for being such a twit as I should have known better. In the past I have had to go to the chiropractor but have got used to this happening (last time about 10 years ago). Sometimes it will just click back into place or I may have to sleep on the floor which also does sometimes work.

Got up Wednesday morning and it felt ok so I thought twisting in bed clicked it back into place but as soon as I jogged on spot I realised it had not cured itself. Today I got up and tried the jogging on spot again and it felt ok so decided to go running. I knew if I did not control the run I would no doubt run too far for too long and could make matters worse.

I decided the best way was to do C25K W1R1 which as you all know is just 1 minute running then 1.5 mins walk for total of 8 mins running. I did this and all was ok but did feel weird doing the W1R1 again. Rather than go full steam into normal running I will finish W1 off and maybe do W2 as well.

If ok at end of that week then it is back to normal, if not then trip to chiropractor

Very wise ... take it steady and listen to your body. No more heavy pot lifting without moving your feet ;)

Oh, no! That sounds horrid. I hope it's completely better soon. You are being very brave and stoic.
