10k plans - which sort to go for??

Hi

Never posted before but have been using lots of posts on here to keep me going.....hope this is ok 😊

I've recently finished C25K and am giving myself a couple of weeks repeating 30min runs before I move on - my ideal is to get to 10k runs (pretty sure I'm no 1/2 or full marathon girl - especially on the bad days 🤣). This couple of 'free running' weeks had coincided with a holiday in France so currently pounding the remote French countryside which has made a great scenery change, albeit a more hilly change! I've realised 5k on the flat and 5k on a slight incline are 2 very different beasts! Especially as I run with my dog on a running lead and the new French smells can mean I inadvertently go faster or ping backwards 🤣 Never thought I'd say it but loving running outside. Even in the cold!

However, enough waffle, my question is about 10k plans. I know there are a few out there - JuJu's included! I used the Zen labs C25K programme and got on with it really well. Simple, 'dings' to run/walk and a half way and 1 minute left prompt. I have downloaded their 10k app but wanted to get opinions on pros and cons of sticking to the C25K kind of pattern vs the 10% rule. I know it's very much individual based but it's worth canvassing hopefully! Determined to make it work!

I do 2 HIIT/circuit classes a week too which is hopefully doing something for my core (although I do wonder sometimes, generally mid sit-up, If I have a core🤣).

Any personal experiences gratefully received! Cheers!

You lucky thing running in the French countryside 🙂 I think you're very wise to consolidate your runs for a while before moving to something else.

I can't comment on any of the 10K plans as there weren't any around here at the time! I just worked up the distance gradually using my own calculations (1 X run of 5K, 1 X short, fast say 3K and then 1X longer run building up week by week). But I know many here have followed Ju-Ju's plan and have loved it. By following this one it's all worked out for you so you don't need to calculate the 10% thing, just do what Ju-Ju tells you! You're in very good hands.

Good luck and enjoy it. It's a fabulous journey 🏃🏃🏃

Thanks! You're right - just need to go step by step but need a plan so I keep seeing benefits. The way you did it sounds good too. Fingers crossed I manage!

Cheers!!
