Gutted ๐Ÿ˜ก Injury Couch for me ๐Ÿ˜ก

Had gait analysis just before Christmas, bought new trainers as a result. Had niggles every run, put it down to having to run different to what used too, went back to old trainers, still had niggles, thought just use one type of trainers so stuck with new ones as they were supposed to be the best for me. Just completed a 4K run as soon as I slowed down to walk, the pain in my leg is unbelievable, limped home. On changing I noticed my ankle feels bruised but I definitely didnโ€™t twist it , Iโ€™ve only been running 1 x 4-5 k run a week trying to run new trainers in but today I have done something serious as I canโ€™t walk on it . Any advice gratefully received, thank goodness my half marathon isnโ€™t till October ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก

Are you stretching, foam rolling? The further you run the tighter your muscles will become and this can cause pain. Also, have you increased your mileage significantly? Where exactly is the pain in your leg?

Sorry for the questions and I'm no expert but I've had a few niggles myself over the years and I might be able to give you the benefit of my experiences ๐Ÿ˜

Hi I do stretches and foam rolling, I have reduced my mileage due to the niggles and now only do 1x 4-5 k once a week but am on cross trainer twice a week and do strength exercises . The pain in my leg was from inside right ankle to inner mid calf, it has eased off now to a dull ache, and am strapped up. Will hold off for little while x

That could be your gait. Just read your reply to Annie and you're right to go back to the shop.

I hope you get it sorted. Do keep us updated.

I'm no expert but... whereabouts on your ankle? Where did you get your GA done? Can you go back and tell them about it and ask for advice? Even if they won't exchange, they should be able to tell you what's going on. Also, it sounds as though you need to see a health professional such as a physio or your GP if they are sympathetic to running (some just aren't). I'm sure others here will have better advice. I hope you can solve the problem though - good luck.

The pain has eased a bit now but was inner right ankle up to inner mid calf. Iโ€™m going to ring the shop where I had GA done this morning and not run for 2 weeks , hopefully that will help x

I have been back to the shop, they reassessed my original analysis and reassessed today in the trainers that I had and they could not see a problem but have agreed to swap to Asics as I was using them before with no issues, collect them Friday ๐Ÿ˜

I had major ankle issues when I switched my trainers after gait analysis. I persevered in the new trainers but the pain in my ankle was getting worse to the point of stopping short my runs. I went back to the shop and swapped my trainers for some similar to my old pair and it has made all the difference. It took some weeks running with the new trainers for the ankle to get better. The wrong trainers can make a massive difference and time will be needed to recover.

Thank you for your advice, Im going to swap my trainers as I cannot get on with them at all. Ive tried and tried but canโ€™t try anymore. Iโ€™m hoping that as im returning back to Asics that once feel better, my runs will be great again x
