Sick Bed

So Thursday night after my run I had fish for my supper, bugger me what followed was NOT nice.

Within the hour I had a badly distended stomach and then --- well I wont go there needless to say it was not good and has continued until today when I eventually took some immodium.

Am still feeling very weak and sorry for myself and not sure when I'll be running again though it's supposed to be tomorrow

Oh noooo..!!

Get well soon and don’t go putting any extra strain on anything which might set you back further.

Patience. Xx

It has improved my pace as I've had to be a bit sharp on my feet at times

Haha, I bet..!! Adds a new meaning to ‘quicker runs’ 😱

It's not called "the trots" for nothing! Poor you! I absolutely hate having what my Dad used to call the Quicksh*ts!

Huge...but gentle hug x

Maybe...wait until the day after tomorrow, just to fully recover, re-hydrate...etc... It is so important.. .because as you well know your body loses electrolytes, such as salt, during the illness and any exercise is, similarly another cause of dehydration.

So,, err on the side of caution.. we cannot have you collapsing :) xxx

Hug gratefully received and advice taken on board and as I've had a nasty niggle in my quads I don't think it will do me any harm to wait and might give it a day or two and possibly leave things until Thursday

Bit late to this but most shops sell boxes of electrolyte replacement sachets to help with cases such as yours rolysmate

I guess "liking" your post isn't really quite right but there isn't a "poor you" button.

yes dropped a few pounds very quickly, trouble is it soon comes back

Definitely don't go out running until you are fully better and have regained some strength. Also keep an eye on how you are feeling. there are some unpleasant bugs going around, and the fish may have been a red herring (forgive the pun).

rolysmate profile image
rolysmateGraduate10 in reply to Rignold

you're right there are some nasty bugs doing the rounds and I have wondered BUT am fairly sure it is the fish and have been working at rehydration

Rignold profile image
Rignold in reply to rolysmate

Usually if fish is off enough to cause food poisoning you can tell a distance off, certainly before you eat it. At this stage the looking after yourself will be the same either way of course, but keep an eye out for further symptoms.

I too was about to add, I reckon you'll have met all your goals there anyway!

Oh no, that sounds awful. Definitely get back to normal before running as an urgent call in a run can be hideous. At least you have had some fartlek training with some super quick sprints and some extra squats too 😁

Oh, no. I really hope you are better soon. X

Well, I know you like running, but having the "runs" well, well, lol. Only kidding lovely, sorry to hear you've been poorly, where did you get the fish from? Can't be too careful, but hopefully after you've rehydrate, you can eat something and get your energy back 🤗👍

HeleneCorsa profile image

Oh no! You poor thing, rolysmate . GI bugs are the worst, as apart from being hideous at the time, they really knock the stuffing out of you. Give yourself a few days to fully rehydrate and to get your strength back.

Do consider that it might be a more general bug rather than due to food. Once I got hideously sick after eating crayfish and put it down to that. But then about 24 hours after I started, the kids all came down with it too (they hadn't eaten the crayfish). It turned out we all had rotovirus and boy, was it grim.

rolysmate profile image
rolysmateGraduate10 in reply to HeleneCorsa

Yes I'm blaming the fish but can't say for sure though thankfully no one else has been effected and I was the only one to have fish!

HeleneCorsa profile image
HeleneCorsaGraduate10 in reply to rolysmate

Ah, let's hope so (it would be awful for it to do the rounds).

Hope you are feeling better!,😀😀
