I'm back in the UK for a week with the first 3 nights in York. It's so exciting to get up early and run in a new place. I couldn't resist, I ran yesterday and this morning, along the river to Millenium Bridge (and beyond). This morning was really frosty, the puddles were frozen, the children were on the way to school and my legs were light and my stride long along the banks of the River Ouse. My breath was steaming, I had a big smile on my face, I felt as if I could run forever. The highlight today was when a "real" runner, lean and mean, gave me a thumbs up (which I returned). It's like a little conspiracy and I love belonging to the club.
Both runs were over 5k (today was 6.3k) - do you think it would be pushing it to run tomorrow aswell? Hubby thinks so, but my legs are twitching this evening and I have to decide now whether to set my alarm. It's not as if I'm not getting enough exercise, I walked about 20k today in total. But who could resist the cold, clear, sunshiny morning air?

I live just outside York and have run in the city on numerous occasions.
If you have time for more runs, there's also a lovely path along the river in the opposite direction (i.e., heading towards Clifton Moor). And for an unusual run, you can do a loop of the bar walls which are open to pedestrians and give a very different view of the city (plus, every now and then there are steps to get back to street level to cross a street and then immediately back up again)
We walked a bit along the river to the North on the first day. And we walked the walls - all of them - on our last day. Don’t think I could have run them, there were still too many tourists wandering slowly along them. Thanks for the tip, though!
