My early runs (06:30) over at least the last month have been dark runs, but in well lit areas so every thing's been fine. Apart from yesterday when it became light half way through my run. Thursday early evening runs are along a local SUTRANS route, so apart from the natural lighting it was pitch black, my first run of the year with a head torch; loved it. All due to the hour change last weekend.

Dark...
I do my weekday runs around 4.30 to 5am so it's really dark in some places as many of the local streets have no lighting
I couldn't get on with the head torch so I bought a kalenji running light that fits like a harness so I have a white light at the front and red light at the back I put it on in the unlit areas and have even tried it on a hill run up the South Downs to test it worked
There is something magical about gently running in the darkness. However, word of warning: Bring an extra light in case your main light malfunctions. I learnt that the hard way yesterday when my light stopped working 9 km from home. Getting home on dark country roads wasn't fun.
Oh yeah. Crikey. Torch on phone springs to mind. Thanks for reminding me Tomas. I’d not thought of it. When on my plot I prepare my exit for losing light suddenly but it’s never entered my head for running int dark 🙄🙂
I must admit I'd have to fall back onto my phone for emergency lighting.
Me too, I'm loving the darkness and scaring all the cars with my headtorch!!!
