Still doing 3 runs a week.

Hi everyone ! Well as the title reads ,still doing 3x runs a week. I did hope that maybe I might have done 4, but that didn't materialise ha!

So that was last week. And tomorrow will start another 1 of three runs this week plus my RFL on Sunday.

My times aren't good though and they are 38,39,40 mins ! Why does this happen .Am I doing something wrong or am I just getting too old for this (59).☹️

Anyway I shall persevere and out I go again tomorrow . Unfortunately in the afternoon I'm off to the dentist yuk! Not looking forward to that! 😬

That's brilliant that you're still doing three runs Peggy and have kept going after graduation.

I think your times are great for someone who is still a relatively new runner. You are doing exactly the right thing and getting into the habit of running regularly and building stamina in your legs.

Have you tried running intervals or fartleks? Are you mixing up your runs? If not then try to do 1X 5K steady pace, 1X fast or intervals 3K and then a slightly longer run. The longer run will build stamina which, over time, results in faster times. Just follow the 10% rule (don't increase your total weekly mileage by more than 10%).

Keep at it. You'll get to where you want to be 🙂

Thanks for that encouragement Irishprincess .No haven't triedfartleks yet ano not really mixing them up! I think it's time to start😄😄

Happy running!

Your times are similar to mine, I am 58. I've been trying to get up to 10k but I might start mixing it up as well and see if that has me speeding up at all.

Hi joy57 yes I know what you mean! I have been able to get to 6.1 or so but the speed was about 43 minutes I think so I think I should, like you mix it up a bit ! 😀😀

Good for,you for running three times a week. It nearly did me in when I tried to move up to four. I soon dropped it back down to three 😃

To go quicker you have to be stronger! Stronger and fitter. You can mess about on your runs with running like mad for 30 seconds here and there, e.g. Between lampposts or trees etc. Any marker will do. Also running fast 1k or 3k runs is good 🙂

Just keep on enjoying your running. It needs to be fun! I am Nearly sixty and love my running. Thanks goodness for this programme. I dread to think where I'd be now if not for it 🙂👍🏃‍♀️✔️

Thank you misswobble! I must admit I do enjoy running it gives you such a buzz doesn't it? Any way tried the speed pod cast this am and that was really good. Even though it wasn't too long I decided that I would only do that today as tomorrow I'm off to the Forest of Dean again for a longer run.

Then I shall do another run Friday. After that I shall rest on Saturday, preparing myself for my RFL on Sunday.

Itching that I've got it sorted,What do you think? Any advise would be gratefully received.😄😄
