Have you had an appointment with a podiatrist ? My husband struggled on for months before seeing one. Insoles and exercises sorted it out really quickly. Hope it is sorted soon.
Hi clareabell, I also was diagnosed with this condition last year. I saw a physio who recommended stretching exercises, naproxen and a change in footwear . The pain relief was epic . I have always worn flat shoes and combined with weight and job was deemed as accident waiting to happen 😀Look on nhs website for exercises or pick up the leaflet on this condition as really helpful😊 I now wear shoes with gel heel inserts and a wedge .
Thanks for your reply, I've printed off the the exercises they recommend and like you I have always wore flat shoes so now going to look into buying some with proper arch support and can I ask how long was it before you could get back to running.
Many thanks Clareabell
Hi Clareabell
Not a runner so can't really give you an honest answer but it was three months until I walked long distances without a limp . This was a week after seeing physio and Gp . I walk at a quick pace on my running machine and wear a gel insert in my trainer and I find rolling a can/ bottle under my foot for 5 mins cuts down on any excess pain ! 😊Stick with it 🌟
Hi Clare, I am only a couple of degrees off from bilateral Club foot. Any pressure on my feet was always agonising, the bones in my feet should have been broken and reset in my infancy but unfortunately they did nit. Anyway, I did not end up in a wheelchair by age 40 , nor did we continue with discussions about amputation and such because a firm called Feathersprings make orthotic shore inserts that are everything they promise them to be.
I have no financial or other stake in them except twenty years plus now of heartfelt gratitude that they are out there. Check them out though for yourself if your pain stays bad. The steel inserts look like they would actually hurt but after two or three days I had no discomfort with them
Best wishes to you
Hello, It can be a nuisance, hopefully you'll be able to manage it.
I get it in the heel sometimes when I first get up then goes off after a short while as I gently stretch, doesn't affect my running, I keep gently stretching foot, achilles & calves, helps keep it away. Also get a discomfort in the front of ball of foot that radiates into the middle toe's, not sure about this, think it's also plantar, not affecting running if I keep pressure off the area as much as I can and keep stretching the toe's out..
I don't have it myself but a colleague had to initially quit running because of it. He saw some sort of running specialist that asked him to switch to much higher cadence and a forefoot/toe strike. He's now running again without issue. I don't know what else he did, but running style might be worth asking your healthcare provider about.
Update off to doctors Wednesday it has progressively got worse to the point I cannot walk and it burns so enough is enough and hopefully they will refer me to someone who can put me through more pain but help. Keep your fingers crossed for me
