Weekly chat 20 June to 26 June
Good week last week. I seem to be responding to a heavy training day followed by a day off. I'm going to do some speed work this week as well.
I set a new 5k personal best for myself yesterday! 34.46, down from 35.03. Only the second time I've managed to run 5k all the way through so I'm happy.
Only thing is I have noticed a disturbing pattern ... I always run best when I've had two biscuits about 45 minutes before! Going to have to try and see how I fare with something healthier!
Great stuff Lina! Yay for healthier snacks! Peanut butter on toast, a home made energy bar. Oooh the world's your oyster
Glad the running is going well RFC! Be careful with the speedwork. Don't do too much of it. I think it's that which is doing me in!
No running at all for me this week. Zilch, nil, nada. Grrrrr!
I've finally managed a 5K again for the first time in 6 months! I am so happy I can't tell you. I'll repeat the distance for three runs before increasing very gently. I'm still nervous and keep thinking the old pain is going to come back but I just love being out running again.
My little aches seem to have settled and I'm doing lots of strengthening exercises, stretching and foam rollering so maybe that's helping.
I have a 10K race booked for mid August but I'm not sure I'll get to it, but hey ho. I'm running and that's the important thing at this stage.
Rubbish week last week. Off all week feeling rotten. Back now feeling good.i can't believe how much I missed this running lark.
I think I just over did the fast runs again IP 😕 So, I get to repent at leisure on the IC.
Glad you're feeling better and getting stronger. Great to be up and at em 😊
Pleased to hear you're feeling better and back to running again Samson. My husband and done have both hone down with snuffles and sneezes today. I could hardly hear the match!
Was a good week last week. Met 2 of my Quest goals:
Running my 2nd 10k just to prove it wasn't a fluke! I also managed it in under 80 mins, which was what I wanted.
Ran a full 5k non-stop. I've been getting into the habit of walking, either deliberately on the longer runs, or just sort of fizzling out at 3k. I wanted to prove that I can still do it. The interesting thing is my runs with planned walks (1 min walk every 5 mins) are actually faster than the non-stop ones. So I'm in 2 minds about walking, it seems to make me faster, but I don't want to lose the stamina to be able to run non-stop.
Also did a short interval run - no improvement speed wise there. And a 5k with planned walks - actually my second fastest (anything under 35 mins is super speedy for me).
So all in all 4 good runs. Will try and keep the 4 run a week rhythm, unless I get too tired. Enjoying running a lot at the moment!
