Yay. After suffering shin splints , sore legs and being unable to run 5 k for a few months I changed my shoes and I'm back running properly again. Such a relief after struggling for 3 months. 10 k tonight and feeling great.

As a shin splint sufferer, do you have any helpful tips?

Lots of rest. Decent shoes, foam rolling and lots of stretching. I found kneeling with my feet flat to the floor and leaning back so my shins really stretched helped a lot. I also found some calf compression sleeves which seemed to help a bit.
