Hi All. Iam from Hyderabad. My mother who is 51 years old has recently be diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer with a single metastatic deposit in liver. The tumour is ER-/PR-/HER2 3+. My oncologist has started on platinum+taxane+trastuzumab. But on referring to the recent studies the recommended standard of care for such patients is Taxane+trastuzumab+pertuzumab.
Can anyone guide me regarding these medicines as the cost is quiet high and I want to know if there are really any provisions to get them for free after the initial 14 cycles. Any help would be of great in this stressful situation. Thank you.

There are many brands for trastuzumab at various price ranges. In my case doctor prescribed canMab from biocon. But, for pertuzumab there is just one brand Perjeta as far as I know. The list price of Perjeta is approx. 2.5 lakhs per dosage. Due to the high cost of Perjeta, many doctors do not seem to recommend this.
For your question on medicine being free after 14 purchases, that’s correct. The Perjeta manufacturer runs a patient assistance program through which they give one free vial for every two vials purchased. And, after 14 purchases, the medicine will be delivered free of cost until progression.
