Letrozole

Following a double mastectomy last year with no chemo or radiotherapy I was put on hormone treatment Letrozole. I have the usual side effects like joint pain and stiffness but find recently that I am very tired, does anyone have the tiredness problem or perhaps I am short of a vitamin or something? Many thanks in advance.

Hi I had the same as you surgery no chemo or radiotherapy, have been on letrozole for over a year now, I would say I personally upped my physical levels last year after diagnosis, and it may have helped side effects such as tiredness, I get aches when first wake but soon go after I keep on the move, I try to not sit around much at all until the evenings, I have changed my diet which I think may help, I am a veggie now and do not have diary, I think I have more energy than I did before, than when I ate meat and diary.

Anything is worth a try, hope it improves for you. Xx

Thank you Debs. Like you I have increased my exercise and walk about 5 miles a day. My appetite has decreased but the Letrozole has given me tummy pains. Once I get going after sitting I am fine and have no pain. We are very lucky Debs considering what the majority of breast cancer sufferers are going through xxx

Yes we are exceptionally lucky, I assume you have looked at what you eat? I have to take alendronic acid also for osteoporosis which I was diagnosed with after dexa scan, as letrozole can thin bones, was surprised that they had already thinned! I am only 53 but at least I know now!

I was on letrozole for a while but don't remember being more tired. The aches and pains are a nuisance. Perhaps you need to speak to your breast care nurse before starting any vitamins just to make sure there will be no interaction. Hope things improve xx
