I finished my chemo and radiotherapy for bilateral BC in 2014 and have been on Tamoxifen since then.
I would like to try Turmeric / Curcumin tablets to see if they help the terrible arthritis I've been left with but my doc is non commital as to whether I should start them or not.
Is there anyone on here who takes them at all and if so do they help ?
Thanx very much

Hi Laura I've literally just commented on another post about this so I'll just copy it here....
I'm sitting here reading this drinking my daily drink of turmeric, black pepper, honey, lemon and organic hemp seed oil. I use organic turmeric powder now but previously bought the powder from Sainsburys. I buy fresh turmeric from my local Asian supermarket and I use it in curries, chicken dishes, stews etc. I've read so much about the health benefits of turmeric but when I mentioned it to my oncologist they didn't really have an opinion on it. I believe some lab studies have proven that the active ingredient in turmeric called curcumin can fight cancer. Here's an interesting article draxe.com/turmeric-benefits/
Had bilateral Bc in 2014. Followed by radiotheraphy. I have been on tamoxifen since. My body feels awful....hips ache, knees, back, elbows!, feet. My hip also keeps giving way. Do you know that tamoxifen can cause this. My partner and I have been taking turmeric for past 2 months....haven't noticed any improvement yet, but it's meant to be so beneficial for various health reasons I will keep it up.
My body is the same ... Constant chronic pain all over and am now on antidepressants as well ..
And my memory is just awful .... Seemingly it's recognised as "chemo brain"!
I'm at the stage now that I will try absolutely anything as I'm desperate to get a bit of my life back ...
Virtually housebound after getting through all the nasty treatment and people telling me that I would feel a lot better this time next year ..... What a laugh !!!
I take a lot of supplements including turmeric and in my experience nothing works as well as pharmaceutical drugs. So your first port of call should be your GP. I came off antidepressants and suffered massively from menopausal symptoms. I struggled through for a few months trying loads of different and pretty expensive supplements, and finally in desperation I took a half dose of the tablets I was on before (10mg Citalopram instead of 20mg). Within days my symptoms had cleared completely. I was able to sleep again and the horrible uncontrollable hot flushes just vanished. Drugs work.
