I have high BMI and I was not told to take any aspirin at all, I would double check that with your midwife if I was you

she was very insistent. Although ive never had high blood pressure and her scales weighed me a stone heavier than at slimming world an hour later.

well as a midwife she would no more then me, but me or any of my friends have never had to use aspirin and a few of us are slightly overweight and my best friend is a lot of weight and she never used aspirin, if you midwife thinks that's what you should do then I guess that's right, maybe double check with someone else though if your in any doubt

I'm 38+3 today and I've took 7t aspirin daily since 12 weeks. It's not done me any harm and my blood pressure has been spot on all the way through. No one explained what it was for, but I was much heavier with my first two boys and i didn't get prescribed it. The consultant who's looked after me has said it's going to likely be recommended to every pregnant woman regardless of BMI

I've taken aspirin since 7 weeks pregnant but I've had preeclmaspia twice already. They normally use aspirin to control or prevent high blood pressure. In pregnancy nothing is great for you.. even the medication they give you half the time says ask your doctor before taking this medication when pregnant but I've never had any issue using aspirin in this pregnancy. Women who are overweight or have a history of high blood pressure are normally given aspirin. They wouldn't prescribe you something they didn't think you needed.. there must be a risk factor for you to be asked to take it. Ask your midwife when you see her why you've been put on it. Hope this helps and you have a good pregnancy.

Just tell her you are taking it and don't. I've never heard of this and my bmi is slightly over and this is my 4th pregnancy. I have hypothyroidism and gestational diabetes also and 23 weeks pregnant. She doesn't know if anything else is causing it and you could do more harm than good. She's a midwife not a doctor. Unless she has given you an actual reason to do so such as in the high blood pressure mentioned above. I wouldn't touch it. I don't trust everything they say as they left my hypothyroidism undiagnosed for years despite repeatedly going to them and I nearly died. Even consultants don't know everything.

Maybe you just ask her why she thinks you should take aspirin.

Maybe reason is that she saw your blood results and suggested low-dose aspirin to prevent blood clots or saw protein in your urine.

Good luck!

Hi i was put on aspirin due to high bmi and previous high blood pressure so they wanted me on to reduce risk of pre eclamsia.

. I was really worried as well but they said the dose is small 75mg but i read up loads before taking it nd found lots of benefits.

Anything ur not sure of ask and ask again drs n midwifes.

Hope everything goes well x
