hello, my Mum is now in palliative care (12 days) for a total bowel obstruction because of a 6 sigmoid volvulus. At 92 an operation is not possible. Almost two weeks now and so far she is coping remarkably - her tummy is huge but otherwise only moderate pain now and then and a need to pee quite often.
has anyone else been through this - does it suddenly change for the worse?
no one can tell me if it will be days, weeks or a month or so. I’m afraid for Mum if vomiting starts - no nausea yet.
Thanks for reading this

Hi, my aunt has just had bowel problems with constipation and then the runs sickness and pain. The 111 doctor just left her like this with no help and told ambulance not to take her to hospital. Turned out that she had an infection and her blood pressure was only 84/43 because of the sickness and the runs. She is 91 years old, I do not think much of the 111 service just hopeless. Hope your mum gets well soon. All the best.
Hello Suzuki, gosh that is wrong. It’s meant to be a joint family decision how to look after your Aunt. My Mum is comfortable right now but unless her bowel just fixes itself which is rare all we can do is try to help her be ok until she passes away. There are community Matrons which you can contact yourself who should be able to help your Aunt. They’ve been good and got Mams care plan made.
I hope your Aunt gets some better help very soon xx
