adhesions

I have had a bowel resection due to diverticulitis causing abscess. It was 5 years ago , bag for 3 months , successful reversal, then about a year later adhesions from surgeries causing me to have appendectomy . My question is, had anyone had adhesions? I think I have more. Pain Around belly button , Constipation , bloating and a feeling food isn’t moving through properly. Not sure this is the correct board for this. Any experiences of this?

I have had adhesions from prior surgeries. What happened to me is that they caused very very severe abdominal pain. I was taken to the emergency room and kept. It turned out that they had caused a total blockage of my small intestine, and nothing at all (including food water or gas) could get through. I had surgery and 5 inches of small intestine were removed. I was fine after that. It is also possible to have a partial blockage. If it continues, I would see a doctor fairly soon.

Thanks very much for your reply. I have had adhesions around my ileostomy scar, Which then attached it self to my appendix so I had to have an emergency appendectomy because my bowel was also blocked. Very scary . This is a bit different this time. I get very confused because I’ve had so many complications from my surgery. I am going to make an appointment to see my surgeon but that won’t be for about six weeks. In the meantime my GP sending me for a gallstone ultrasound. I doubt very much that’s what it is. Thanks very much again for your reply. It’s good to talk to someone this is happened to

You never expect this kind of complication from previous surgery. I guess the good news is that it is at least treatable. x
