Hi, I'm currently being investigated for the possibility of bowel disease. I had my colonoscopy on Friday and I didn't really get the answers I wanted. I guess it's one step back. They didn't see any ulcers (my first colonoscopy from 2020 showed TI ulcers) and no inflammation (A CT scan from April this year showed chronic active inflammation in the caecum and terminal iluem). They have taken biopsies so just have to wait two weeks. It has only been 2 and a half months and the inflammation from the CT scan report didn't show up on the colonoscopy.
I have read up on past posts that at times the colonoscopy could be clear but the biopsies may show something different and other tests may show something else.
My consultant did mention that if the colonoscopy didn't show anything then I would be having a capsule endoscopy to look at the terminal iluem in more detail.
Thank you for reading.

They will have taken biopsies while examing your bowel. These will be examined in detail and you will be told of the results. Hopefully all will be clear but if they find something to prove the cause or reason of your illness they will take it further.
Well I've had bowel issues for over 15 years and was told it was IBS. In 2018 I had a bowel obstruction caused by two incisional hernias which resulted in a small bowel resection. Two years later I began to suffer with constipation and my symptoms got worse with upper abdominal cramps going to my shoulder blades. I would also have upper right quadrant pain. I was sick after eating food. I was diagnosed with gallstones and had my gallbladder removed in 2021. It was after the surgery that I started to have severe diarrhea with an urgency. My stool colour was yellow, I am now unable to eat certain food. I have joint ache throughout my body and suffer from severe exhaustion.
My calprotectin levels have been elevated I'm the 200s and 400s which is high for me. My GP referred me to Gastroenterology.
In April of this my trips to the loo increased with severe exhaustion, severe abdominal cramps accompanied with fever. I was admitted to the hospital where a CT showed chronic inflammation in my terminal iluem and caecum. I also have an infra umbilical hernia that has a loop of bowel in it. My GP is trying to find out the source of my pain whether it's the bowel or my hernia.
Just an update from me, my biopsies came back normal. I feel deflated because I was hoping something would show up to explain my symptoms. The next test is the capsule endoscopy. I've been waiting for a date since July and I think it's going to be a long wait!
