strontium citrate
My spine bone density has improved a lot over the last 4 years on a reduced dose of strontium citrate, my hip density has stayed the same. But strontium isn't suitable for everyone, definitely may not be safe if you have heart or kidney problems and it can raise blood pressure. I wouldn't take it with an osteoporosis medication either. Also, apparently strontium is in short supply!
I was on this drug after having to wear a BP monitor for 48 hours. It was taken off the market eventually. When it came back onto the market where I live no longer prescribed it so that was that. I do not know if it increased my t scores. Since then I refused prolia. I take supplements and my t scores are ok. I have a REMS scans every two years. I have had two. Next one will be in 2025. I believe it is the best OP drug available to us if one can get it prescribed and if one's BP readings and kidneys are OK.

STRONTIUM: NOT ALL IT’S CRACKED UP TO BE
I'm going to be trying strontium citrate when I run out of strontium ranelate. The pharmaceutical company which makes strontium ranelate are having problems sourcing an ingredient so it will not be available for about a year....a real nuisance. I've been on strontium ranelate for nearly 17 years - rheumatologist really pleased as I've not fractured nor got shorter (sign of compression fractures) during all the time I've been on it. Most people here who take strontium citrate say their bone density improves so although bone density can't be accurately measured when taking strontium, it appears more dense but that's only because strontium is radiologically 'heavier' than calcium, it shows they are absorbing the strontium citrate so that seems positive to me.
I ordered some strontium citrate a while ago then read the contra indications and decided not to take it. I like the idea of it but the risks didn’t seem worth it - we’ll not for me.
