Just checked them on trust pilot, not good reviews. Can anyone tell me where to buy strontium?

What did people say about them? I've not had any problems, but don't buy direct from them.

I buy from iHerb frequently. They're fast and reliable.

Just 4 reviews though. Looks like it's an American company, maybe ordering form a UK company rather than direct works better.

Can I ask if you take the strontium as well as calcium or instead of it? Thank you.

why are you thinking of using this supplement? Only take it if your doctor strongly recommends it.

To strengthen my bones ! the meds don’t seem to be working.

I don't know if it's advisable to take strontium with osteoporosis meds. A pharmacist may be able to advise on this.

You take strontium citrate instead of the osteoporosis meds.

That's what I do, but Glasgow mentioned being on meds.

It is a problematic supplement. Do not use it unless you doctor strongly recommends it. What else have you tried? Have you had a DEXA scan? Any medication you take for osteoporosis needs to be under medical care. Increasing natural calcium in diet is one way to go (vit D supplement helps calcium absorption).

I used strontium citrate for 3-4 years without any problems. Just take it 2 hours away from calcium. My bone density in my spine increased by 3.6% in the first year, and my hip gradually improved too.

My problems started when I got scared into taking Prolia in 2018 - horrible relentless side effects and I'm now on Actonel to wean off the Prolia without fracturing my vertebrae. Once all this is over, I'll be taking strontium citrate. The osteoporosis drugs do more harm than good, in my opinion. Do your research, whichever path you decide to go down.

I have read that DEXA scans certainly do read better after taking strontium but that it is a false reading. The bone DENSITY is not increased. The strontium makes the bones HEAVIER. Has anybody else heard this? Have I got it right? It was a long time ago that I took strontium out of my COMB protocol that I have been doing instead of Alendronic Acid treatment. I have osteopenia.

I'll look it up again and post my findings here.

Here is one report from americanbonehealth.org :

Three good reasons not to take strontium

Taking strontium supplements for any period of time is likely to make future bone density tests inaccurate. (Strontium may remain in the bones for as long as 7–10 years after the last dose.) Strontium has a chemical similarity to calcium and will replace calcium as the mineral in bone. Because strontium atoms are heavier than calcium atoms, swapping some of the calcium atoms with strontium atoms will make the bone mineral density appear to increase. This is not the same as making new bone. “Currently, we do not have a way to measure the false increase in bone density that results when you take a supplement or a medication that includes strontium.”[4]

I suggest you do your own research and make up your own mind. There are conflicting reports and several studies have been done on the effectiveness of strontium (together with other micronutrients) in using osteopenia. Good luck whatever you decide to do.

I would suggest you don't buy strontium citrate (and take it to treat osteopenia or osteoporosis) until you have done a great deal of research into it. There are many controversial studies /reports which are worth reading.
