Medication

I am experiencing hot sweats, dry mouth, fatigue. I have osteoporosis although not on meds yet and I have underactive thyroid. As advised I took magnesium but I took it with thyroxine. I feel dreadful, extreme tiredness, dry mouth, and having awful hot flushes that I've never had before. I'm 59.Wondered if this is related to taking both levo and magnesium together. Any thought/advice welcome

Hi, I take both but usually about half hour later. I've not had any problems, but I'm learning from this site that we can all react very differently. Do you think you could stop the magnesium for a few days, then try again at a different time of day, just to be certain it was the cause ?

Thank you yes I have since discovered there should be a 4 hours gap between the the levothyroxine and magnesium. So hopefully won't happen again 😆

You are aware that you are supposed to take levothyroxine on an empty stomach and wait a bare minimum of 30 minutes to eat (some ppl say wait an hour)—they also say avoid calcium for up to 4 hrs after taking your levothyroxine because it can interfere with your body absorbing the levothyroxine. I always wait at least 30 minutes to eat and I avoid calcium supplements for 4 hours after taking, but I don’t wait the 4 hours to eat calcium—your body needs calcium to function and given that I have low bone density, I’m picking my bones over my thyroid on this one.

I have hypothyroidism and osteoporosis. I take 75 mcg of levothyroxine daily—1st thing every morning on an empty stomach with 8 oz of water and wait at least 30 minutes to eat after taking. I also take magnesium but I take it at night usually about 1-2 hours before going to bed. Haven’t had any issues.

I get those awful hot flashes too, followed by chills. I don’t know what causes then . I read that Parkinson’s interferes with the body’s ability to regulate the body’s autonomic system, which manages the body’s temperature. So I don’t know of a way to stop the flashes
